I found much of inflight and front line employees initially drink up the blue juice. Pilots, maybe not as much because of previous experience. However there is an element of the pilot population that still cant see straight and the past years those folks have done some real damage that we're attempting to correct.
I will say, in 8 years, I've never been more satisfied with the direction of the Company and my career as I am right now.

Ha ha. You haven't met all of us. You're absolutely right, especially during initial indoc. It is (was) very much an indoctrination.

Well, I've been here almost a year. It seems a little cultish from the outside.
My PERSONAL experience is most people like it here and they really do try and hire outgoing caring, empathetic people. Maybe it's cultish because everyone is so friendly. Seriously, the hardest part about the interview was maintaining the energy one is required to have while walking thru LSC. everyone I crossed paths with in that building was smiling at me and saying "oh...are you interviewing? Good luck and congrats for getting the call!" It was exhausting being around so many positive people. But ask yourself. Would you rather work with a bunch of grumpy ****ed off co-workers for more money? Many would. Not me. Not who they are looking for. JB IS NOT for everyone.
I haven't flown with anyone (yet) that would qualify as "that" 10% that everyone hates to fly with.
Is the money better elsewhere? Maybe. But I'm happy here.

NO! NO! NO! NO! DO NOT VOLUNTEER FOR VDAs! Not only are you allowing the company the opportunity to delay hiring thereby directly hurting your own seniority advancement, YOU ARE WORKING FOR FREE! VDA means you sit reserve and if you don't get called in to work YOU DON'T GET PAID!
I can't believe that people are so blinded by he possibility of a few extra dollars that they think this is a good idea.
