Captain reserve is MUCH worse due to tighter staffing. Expect am reserve day one almost always with little or no long call.
We should never make excuses for JB reserve rules. I had a good run for the most part as an FO. But I won't upgrade into reserve as a CA because I know how bad it is.

However, speaking personally as an E190 CA on reserve, I have to say that it is not true that you will almost always be on AM reserve on day one. When I request PM on day one, I usually get it (but not always). Long call is not nearly as common as it is on the FO side, but personally I have probably averaged 3-5 days a month of it (of course when starting mid-week). Won't be that much during the summer, though. As for total usage for the month, I average about 8 days of actually having to work each month.

I was on reserve on the 190 down in MCO as an FO all of last year. I flew less than 100 hours the whole year. Got the "you're gonna dequal" e-mail three times, but I never had to go to the sim. Got close, though. Month of October, I flew FIFTY MINUTES. The limo to TPA was longer than the TPA-MCO ferry flight.
Now, I'm on reserve on the 320 in MCO as an FO. I'd probably still be under 60 hours at this point if it weren't for needing 100 hours after training. Take away red eyes, and I would have flown maybe 4 times this year. I did a red eye last weekend because I needed the day on Saturday free, so I bid for it and got it. Other than that, I haven't touched a plane this month. I'm on day 3 of RSV today, and I'm already toast. Released for tomorrow. I'd say it's about equal in both fleets in MCO for FOs with the greater likelihood of being called on the 320 by just a bit. Nice thing is we have a lot of FLiCA stalkers here. There was a trip on Sat I KNEW I was gonna get, but someone else apparently picked it up as it wasn't assigned to me or any other reserve.
Although, a quick PSA for everyone. DON'T forget to bid. I did that for July and thought "Eh, I'm junior and don't need specific days off that month. I'll wind up with reserve anyway." WRONG. 71 hour line with 13 days off. WAY worse than reserve. Gone half the month (I count 4 red eyes as being "gone" even though I'll be sleeping in my own bed during the day), and it credits less with fewer days off since I would have gotten PRL days on reserve. Worse, I had to pick up a red eye just to hit reserve credit. Lesson learned.....

Any idea if calls are still going out to candidates from the previous window (March I believe) or have they pretty much called everyone they were interested in and will move on to those who apply when the window opens up again next?

That's what they told me in Sun n Fun in April. They told us in the interview that expect class by late fall/early winter.
The pool have around 80, once they get all the 6/10 & 11 thru phase 2, they would have about 70-90 more guys waiting. I believe the April interview guys are going to class in July.

I'm JFK/320... Feb DOH. I just finished a 3 day block unused. I have 4 days off then 5 days on to finish the month. So far this month, I have worked 2 flights and 2 deadheads for a total of 14:22 of credit. That being said, looking at the reserve list, I think the average is in the 30hr range for the month.

I have a 170/190 type rating. 3,000 TT with about 600 hours on type so far. 2,200 hours of 121 turbine time but no 121 PIC time. Think I have a shot? I might start prepping for next app window. I can't find much on their minimums though.

In January 2016, JetBlue will offer an average of 118 daily departures in its winter schedule with even more frequencies in the peak travel season - up to 140 daily departures in summer 2016. This is up from 54 average daily departures in 2008 when the airline began to significantly grow its presence in Boston.
The increase comes from a series of added flights on existing routes. Many of the flight frequency additions will be to JetBlue's Florida and Caribbean focus cities and to other popular destinations in these regions (c).
