Why did PSA pilots take huge comcessions when US Air is making record profits? Not saying it's the same thing but people get scared and do dumb dumb things.

BTW, the noncompete clause doesn't really bug me. Even if it were much more broadly-scoped.

But integrity matters a lot to me, and what I heard from leadership during my bluing was a lot different from what I now see on paper. I'd much rather they be up front and explain why they can't pay a competitive wage with competitive work rules and benefits than to put spoilers and paint on a Pinto and call it a Mustang.

Look, I agree that ALPA has it's issues and honestly I am not a fan of them at all. At the same time, on the call with management yesterday he sat there and told us we have a choice and input in this situation. You can sign their PEA or not sign it. WOW I really feel special In this direct relationship. Many below average things are still in this new contract.

Section 6 will allow us to negotiate. Yes you are correct in saying concessions would be prob brought up. Negotiating means you may have to give something up. I just strongly believe at this point in time in the industry we have an upper hand because they say they want people to come here. This PEA is not the answer!! I'm sorry to vent on the hiring section here. Overall I am happy to work here and I enjoy the people I work with. But I want this job/ career to last and we need something better than this one sided deal. Carry on.

Well said. I'm not eager to give part of my paycheck to ALPA or anybody else but, considering how we are behind in about every category affecting my life and finances, I think we'll come out ahead in the long run if he negotiate our own CBA.

It just matters because pilots want unions, and then vote in politicians that undermine the rights of unions and appoint NMB and other appointees that undermine the union. It may be contentious, but it matters. And my last post shows why.

ALPA is a function of who you elect to your MEC. Remember that. How many of us have previous union experience? How many JetBlue pilots have previous ALPA experience?

Voting in ALPA gives the JetBlue pilot group an opportunity to have a say in Jetblues future. An experienced, union savy membership will allow the JetBlue pilot group to negotiate effectively with management on issues important to Jetblue pilots. Gone are the days of national agendas. ALPAs role, today, is to support the pilots achieve their goals. Keep in mind NONE of JetBlue management will have the tenure that a pilot will. Modern day robber barons take their money and go and JetBlue managemt is no different.
ALPA at a regional is also different from ALPA at a major. Sadly the economic relationship between a regional and a major is substantially different to a major and it's pilot group. Keep this in mind.

Yes very. But also hard to enforce later unless you are based and/or live in FL.
