Did the mention who they were trying to target with the non-compete? Who is it directed towards? Not every pilot who leaves, because - for example - an Eagle pilot comes to JetBlue and then leaves to go to Delta or SWA - if I'm reading the non compete correctly that is permissible.
Or an I missing something?

Yes Zap you can go to Southwest
So an Eagle pilot comes here and leaves at 1.5 years to go to American, he would be the guy they could go after.
I think the fact that none of us even really knew or cared about it before speaks volumes of the company's intent to use it.
But Rob did say in a worst case they could.

Once again 2 things that make this nothing to worry about. 1st it is illegal (if you are forced to sign a training contract as terms of your employment)in most states, defenatly New York, Mass and California. Florida is the only state where this clause may be legal. 2nd there is no monetary value to the training in your PEA. It is a scare tactic to make you think twice before leaving. If we loose 76 next year we won't be parking airplanes if we loose 276 that might be a different story.
"7. This Non-compete shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to its conflict of laws".

I've never been in a union.
My only direct experience with unions has been dealing with them in various capacities and negotiating from the other side of the table - sometimes friendly, sometimes not.
I've never wanted to be in a union.
I still don't want to be in a union.
I don't believe a union will solve everything.
I believe if we go union we'll be locked up in this contract for at least the next 3 years with no further raises or improvements in benefits or work rules.
I'm happy in this job. Very happy.
I've sent my card in.

Notice it is the blue states that won't let management FU€£ you. But the red one sure will.
