New hire here ... I'm starting class this coming Wednesday, apparently the first class to stay at the Lodge. Just to address discrepancies about the "New" new hire pay, here is what they sent us via email about salary...

Details of your salary will be included in the New Hire Letter sent from the Pilot Recruitment Team. You officially become a JetBlue Crewmember on your first day of Orientation. There is no “probationary” period. Pilots receive training pay computed at the prorated amount of $2000.00 per month. You will receive your first training paycheck (prorated for the number of days you were in training that month) either around the 5th or the 20th of the month depending on your class start date. Once on line, paychecks are sent on the 5th and 20th of every month. Note: Direct deposit can not be guaranteed for your first paycheck. The initial paycheck will be delivered to you at the training center for your convenience. Your pay will transition to First Officer pay upon completion of training

also regarding the food credit/allotment...

During your Initial training, you are provided a food credit of $26.00 daily for use purchasing your meals at the Galley restaurant or food only purchases at Tailfin Bar or “On the Fly”.

Pay checks should be the 8th and the 20th.

Any case that is bad news for new hires.

Nothing yet. Maybe they're still having coffee in Queens.

Question is, at about half a per diem rate, what's the food prices? Retail, "we're making a profit on you," or wholesale. Don't know.

The total amount divided by the training footprint equals approximately 2090/month, and the information was provided to the MEC directly from the company. (Guess you missed that line in the email). How in the hell does that equal our MEC having an "agenda" as you put it? It's sad to read that you seem to be ok with the company recouping the cost of this ridiculous lodge from our newhires.
And I still question the math. According to the former "value" number from the MEC e-mail, I'm still owed $324 from when I was a new hire. I'd bet a lot that everyone else is in the same boat. So, my question still stands: where is that number coming from? That number was also provided to the MEC directly from the company. No, I didn't miss that in the e-mail. I just like to think for myself.

I never said I was okay with it. That's your take away from it, not what I'm implying. Please, quote me where I said "I'm okay/fine/happy with this."

See. Question the company and you've got tons of people on the internet to pat you on the back and sagely nod. Question the union on anything, and you're a pariah or a company plant.

And again, this has nothing to do with regional vs major. We're not talking pay/benefits/QoL here, at least that's not my point. I'm talking about the potential for union side tracking, stirring the pot or half truths. That's a possibility at a major just as much as a regional. Or are you people implying that everyone in a position at the union will always have everyone's best interest at heart 100% of the time?

Based on what an actual new hire has posted in the thread, it does seem the company is cutting new hire pay. That's unacceptable and I wish someone could do something about it. Although, I AM confused on how the union can say "We can't help on the pay because we can't represent new hires" but two paragraphs later they state that any new hire will have representation at a Training Review Board. And before anyone asks, yes, I have contacted my rep for clarification on the issue.....

Welcome aboard, and thanks for your service! We're really glad to have you guys and gals, just have to scream and yell at each other once in awhile....

There was a previous poster who theorized about staying at his regional versus coming to JB. Even with our warts aplenty, if you can survive first year pay there's a lot more stability and less bs to deal with once you hit the line. Plus, if you're still an FO our first year pay, crappy as it is, should still be a raise. Finally, coming to JetBlue seems to be a great way to get your resume looked at at UA, DL, or AA if one of those is your ultimate goal
