This is a cash change of -714 a month.
Are those figures ($3571/$2857) for 6 weeks? That's only $17 a day (taxed) extra the old way... That's one meal at a traditional restaurant. Prices look fair at the Lodge.
I guess the limiting factor is your stuck with the food in the Lodge. But if you can't go anywhere due to lack of transportation seems like it's not a bad deal. I hope the food is good.

Maybe so but before you could go to a grocery store and make your own food for much cheaper. Cash is always a better deal. New hire pay is tough as it is. It just got tougher.

Still much better than most of these guys were getting at the regionals. After their LOE they will be at $49 so I'm sure they are still very happy to be here.

This is a major airline my friend. Let's stop comparing it to a regional.

It's going to work out to 35K take home first year. Dismal at this level. I made just under six figures at FlightSafety last year. So for me, and my 25 regional captain classmates, it's below par. At the level of experience required to get this job it's inappropriate. That's like saying, "well, at least you can pay most of your bills now."

Two guys in the October class left for Delta. So some at least are not that happy.

I cooked /prepped six weeks worth of quality meals (not junk) for $300 using the kitchen in the room at the Staybridge. With some culinary training under my belt and being a Food Network junkie, I was a popular guy. "Got anymore of that homemade chicken chili?"....

Same here. This is a step backwards for us for sure. I'm pretty over guys comparing JB to a regional. It's far from it.

I agree. I'm hoping we can take a good step forward with our first contract, and make this a career airline. Glass half full .... for now.

Their first year pay begs the comparison. Virgin's first year pay is much better now, but they can always compare to spirit. I think more and more guys will go elsewhere, based strictly on pay. Most everybody else has figured out they need to make themselves attractive to future pilots, I guess jetblue isn't worried enough. I keep hearing from friends, over there, that they expect more people to bail this year.

Yeah 35K is pretty low. Did they get rid of the retention bonus? What are most second year guys making a year? Growing up in Boston I always wanted to work at jetBlue, but now that I'm close to an upgrade at my regional it causes me to think twice if I ever got a call.
