I hope you are right. My point was that that is the only way ALPA (via a CBA) could force us to hire more pilots. Besides that it is all managements call.

Any clue if the training is going better yet? I was in the pool for interview and had the rug pulled out because I suddenly did not meet the competitive qualifications. Wondering if 4000tt will be good enough next time around, there is no chance of upgrade for me at this point so TPIC is out of the question. Thanks for any updates.

Kellwolf - Here are some ideas for how we can improve our health care:
1) COVER SPECIAL NEEDS CHILDREN.
2) WHATEVER CHILDREN MIGHT NEED, JUST PLAIN COVER IT!!!!
It simply sickens me that our company kicks children to the curb. It is disgusting, infuriating, immoral and they should be deeply ashamed of the harm they cause families with this massive failure. Denying children the care they need does certainly cause harm. Caring for children when they are young is relatively cheap and extremely cost-effective. There is no excuse whatsoever for denying much needed care to children.
Now, without the caps, and taken from my former regional
3) Lower the deductible just some - say $500 - $1000 single, $1500 - $2000 family.
4) INCLUDE the deductible in the max out of pocket. If a crummy regional can, we can too.
5) INCLUDE prescriptions in the deductible and max out of pocket. Why in gods name should prescriptions be excluded? Again, crummy regional yada yada yada...
6) Lower the premiums some (remember that regional?).
7) Improve the god-awful dental. My regional paid 80%, not 50% and was cheaper.
This regional loved and raved about how inexpensive their medical plan was for the company. I don't see why we can't do at least as well.

The problem with an insurance that includes the prescriptions in the deductible/max out of pocket is you're gonna pay higher premiums. Really, that's the only difference in the Blue and Green plans, BUT the prescription plans are different (which makes very little sense to me). The other problem with that is the insurance company wants to try to drive people into generic brand meds. With a plan that includes scripts in the deductible, people are going to intentionally buy name brand in order to reach the deductible faster. At least, if they're smart they will. The only way to offset this is to NOT cover a name brand if a generic is available (which is what MY crappy regional's insurance did).
It's a give and take, and I'd honestly love to be in on the R&I committee when we start negotiating for better medical benefits. We need a MUCH bigger range of choices other than Plan A and Plan A1. There's so little difference between the two (the prescriptions and on the Green plan if ONE person hits the deductible/max co-insurance it applies to them, Blue plan you have to hit the FAMILY number on both) that they might as well just force everyone into one anyway. They can try to sell the Obamacare line if they want, but it's not true. From what I could see, the old Blue Care wasn't a "Cadillac Plan," so I don't see any tax reasons for ditching it.
What we need is a wide range of plans (at least 3-5) for pilots to choose from. Those that are healthy and want to save $$$ can go with something like the Green plan. Those with families or needing better coverage could go with a better plan with higher premiums/lower deductibles. And a plan somewhere in the middle for those that aren't sure.
