The union was going to force jetblue to slow growth. Barger told me this to my face and I believe him.

I can see the growth slowing over the next several years.
However, it takes time to negotiate a CBA and shouldn't effect the immediate hiring that is currently taking place?

The point is that only JetBlue management can decide whether to speed/slow/maintain current growth. The new union has nothing to do with it whatsoever, other than that they will be used as a scapegoat by management upon which to blame anything negative. Some will believe it, hopefully many will not.

You may be right, honestly I have no clue how many we will hire for 2014. The original plan was 400 total (200 for growth + 200 for attrition). Rich sent us that recent email stating the attrition number has been reduced to 100, so that's where I figured we would hire 300 for the year. We have already hired 200, so 100 remaining for the year would make some sense. Your info is more recent, so hopefully that holds up.

Even the ALPA BOD stated they need to get rid of any caps. This is not coming to Jetblue.
