I didn't want to take the thread off topic but I'll go ahead and ask my question anyway...

Can someone describe the differences between the High, Core, and Low short - term disability plans?

And my next question is "How do you crack the code to get an interview? ". Haven't figured that one out yet. Are most guys getting interviews going to job fairs? Or are internal recs the tipping point?

Likeabat, you are not alone in wondering this. I attended the WAI conference, and Vets in Blue. I also have a LOR from a line pilot. Still haven't heard anything yet. My background is 121 PIC and Mil Heavy. Wondering what else it takes….

Everything there cost more than what I had.

So, I guess my question to everyone that complains about the health care is what's your solution?
Our plans are complete garbage. They are high premium and high deductible. Ask around, many regionals and almost every major airline has better plans than ours. As has been mentioned, your seed money is not guaranteed as it would be with a contract and neither are your rates or deductibles. I've seen similiar plans to ours at most carriers but they either have lower deductibles and/or premiums.

To give B6 healthcare a comparison. I recently left B6 for UAL. UAL offers a plan called Aetna EPO Bronze which was very similar to the Blue plan (the plan I was enrolled in). Rough numbers was 3000 deductible max out of pocket was ~9k which is close to the B6 plan. Just my wife and I. I paid ~$200/mo at B6, if I or my wife was a smoker I would have had a "penalty" of $80 at B6 (my numbers are off by a few bucks for B6 because it's been 18 months since the last time I took part in open enrollment at B6). At UAL it ~$105 and then we got credit of $96 per month "credit"....so $9 out of pocket verses 200. (I was interested in the difference I opted for different coverage)


Also having a baby next week (well the wife). So far I have paid 220/mo for coverage (250 deductible /1500 max out of pocket) and we have paid ~$40 for a shot bc my wife blood type is negative. Everything else covered. B6 I would have paid ~100 a month for dr visits.

That's why people complain about the coverage so much.

JetBlue isn't at fault for medical premiums. ObamaCare is.

Obamacare doesn't require employers to pass on any set amount of premiums to the employees. You can see JetBlue is responsible for setting the premiums high simply by acknowledging the fact that other airlines, all of which are subject to the same ObamaCare laws, have not done so. The company desperately wants to make you think the rates are out of their hands, but they absolutely have a choice as to how much of the premiums to cover, and how much to pass along to the employee. There is also no provision in the law - again, as evidenced by the fact that other companies haven't all made the same changes - that required JetBlue to stop offering real PPO plans, and to instead offer only high-detuctible, high OOP plans.
