Bluedriver said it best. Company is playing chess while we’re playing patty cake. I expect more of the same with the JCBA.
Why? Not only is this the best negotiating climate for all pilot unions for decades, but management NEEDS the JCBA done in a timely manner. It’s not like the usual situation where management benefits by dragging out an old contract.

Because we have too many pilots who are satisfied with making more than their neighbor who works at Starbucks! It is entirely up to the NC/MEC. Whatever they present for a vote will pass. I’ve said it before, but it needs repeated. The NC/MEC needs to protect us from ourselves. Neither one of our most recent extensions should’ve passed, but they did.

I agree with everything you just said…barring an economic meltdown before we start negotiating. I’ve just learned to temper my expectations here. Chess…patty cake. I hope they prove me wrong.

Disagree completely. I voted no for that 3% BS, but I did vote yes for the most recent pay raises. That said, a JCBA for a combined carrier needs to be directly competitive with the CBA's of the big 3, and *because* I voted yes on the last one, I'm now in a better position to be able to play hardball on the next one. Have a little more faith in your coworkers.

It was written in black and white. But it was in a document the company controlled, because we had not yet completed our first CBA.

The PEA was basically an agreement between said pilot and the company. You agreed to work on stated terms or you can take a hike, and said terms are subject to change exclusively at the company’s option when ever they felt like it.
