jetBlue Hiring
I highly doubt that. While it's possible, I doubt either pilot group would give up SLI rights to just do straight DOH, because well, it's stupid to do that. Many mergers have transpired where different formulas were used to calculate seniority position. Career expectations (time to upgrade) plays a large role in Seniority List Integrations. ALPA has entire seminars on SLI and mergers. Have you been to any formal Mergers Training? I have.

Things I’ve heard other pilots say in 2023 to me or in my presence when I’m on the jump seat or they are in mine, on parking lot bus, or at job fair/industry stuff. Again not that these statements are right or wrong, but it made me think differently about the some of the logic out there these days. Certainly there isn’t a universal shared mental model.
“SkyWest technically is a major Airline, it’s just more efficient for the business model to be regional”
“ I mean coming from the seven four at Atlas doing international, going narrow body domestic at ______ (legacy) its a like a downgrade”
6 year Spirit Captain “ I still want to go to United, Im just gonna wait one more year to apply.”
Regional FO “ I’d go to JetBlue if they were hiring street captains, but to be an FO…….No thanks, it’s like no different than a regional”
Referencing a legacy new hire class. “ I have over 3000 hours………I’m like more than qualified for the job, there are people in there with like 2000.”
A two leg commuter from Brussels “Commuting is like THE WORST, I don’t know why anyone’s does it”

Of course I have no way of knowing what will happen with JetBlue/Spirit, but the American/US Airways merger was announced in February of 2013, and the snapshot where all subsequent new hires went DOH wasn't made until December.
Was December the date when US and AA board of directors approved the merger?

But American Airlines was in bankruptcy at the time and the bankruptcy court didn’t approve the merger until late November.
So sort of apples and orangutans compared to this deal.
US Air approved it in July 2013.

was anyone hired at those places between february 2013 and december 2013?
Yeah, as excargodog said, it's definitely a different merger. But I'm not sure how it affected the choice of the DOH cutoff date one way or the other (I was hired a few months later). We have a number of Airways 2013 hires on this board - perhaps they can chime in with how and why it was selected the way it was - but I thought I'd mention it. Announcement date certainly makes sense, but perhaps there are some other milestones that could potentially be used.
