1. From my (limited) understanding, up until the announcement of the MCO 190 base closure, the 190 was the way to go in JFK due to more movement, lots of premium flying, etc. but now it seems that a lot of that premium 190 flying has dried up. Would y’all recommend bidding the 190 in jfk still?

2. anyone have current reserve times for the 320 and 190 in jfk? I think I read the 320 we should expect 18 months or so. I understand what’s accurate today may not be accurate tomorrow.

3. Are mostly day trips and 2 days attainable for a junior line holder in jfk? Either 320 or 190? How are the trips these days in terms of efficiency, duty day, long sits, etc? I know I’m asking a lot here but any general info would be greatly appreciated.

4. Can new hires expect to fly a lot on reserve? At my current airline I fly a lot, blocking 90 hours per month easy, and I’m wondering if I’ll be stuck at home most days on reserve at JB.

5. is the apc profile info regarding minimum guarantee accurate? 70 hrs/mo for lineholders, 75/mo for reserve?

thanks all!

JB is my number one choice by far as I live in BOS and just genuinely like the company. I’ve been wanting to work here since I was a kid.

I applied back in April and have been continuously updating my app since then. I have two internal recs and three externals. I haven’t heard anything at all. Wondering if this is normal? Am I competitive? Or is not hearing anything akin to a TBNT?

Honestly keep your hopes up.
It took a while for me to hear back, but once I did I was in class not to long after. They contact people with more experience first. If your app is still in the system, you’ll get a chance.

Recruiting event are the key to make the process faster.

It’s been good to fly here. Very laid back company and captains are all nice.

I sent an email to recruiting but haven't heard back. Where are folks hearing about their Meet The Chiefs events? I want to attend the next event, but have no idea when it is, or where I can find that information when it's released.

A lot to unpack here. I'm going to assume you are local to JFK since you showed a desire for 1-2day trips?

1. It is difficult to know what the future holds for the 190 bases (well, except that they will disappear over the next few years). 1st yr pay is the same regardless of which plane you fly. I would still recommend JFK 190. There will be premium pay opportunities on all fleets. I dont think JFK 190 movement will be that much different than the 320, but you will have the opportunity to fly more 1-2 day trips vs the 320.

2. Junior lineholder for the JFK 320 and 190 in September were about the same seniority and had DOHs in 12/21 and 1/22 respectively.

3. 2day trips are very common for junior line holders on JFK 190, you can forget about it on the JFK 320 for a very long time. Generally the trips aren't productive. 10hr 2day trips, 15hr 3day, 20hr 4day, etc. 190 has more 3-4leg days and sits. 320 is usually 1-2 legs with minimal sit time. Overnights generally suck on the 190. They are shorter (10-15hrs) and crappy cities. 320 you'll spend a lot of time in the Dominican Republic in the middle of the night. Redeyes on the 320 suck, 190 doesn't do that sort of thing.

4. Reserve isn't like it is at the regionals, but you'll probably block 60ish hours during busy months and 30-40 during slower months. We have short call (2.5hr callout) and long call (14hr callout) which you bid for on a monthly basis. I'd expect to be gone 75% of the RSV days on your schedule.

5. Yes, 70hr min guar for line, 75 for RSV.

Overall, I would recommend JFK 190, and bid RSV if you dont want to work as much. There are opportunities to pick up premium (150%) or VDA (200%) flying on days off. Stick on the 190 for 1-2 yrs then bid over to the 320.

Sincere apologies, I wasn’t “born” on the forums, like you… your highness. The point still stands, I don’t understand why anyone would choose B6. Other than it being a gateway program for the legacy carriers.
