Unfortunately, some folks don't get through phase 2. The pilot hiring committee reviews your entire file here, together with your interview scores. I've heard this is the stage where they really look at those LORS, cover letter, etc

I'm sorry this happened! Apply again in 6 months if you're still wanting to go to JB, I've heard of many getting in the 2nd try.

It is not. On the JB online portal it says the current date and "we have decided to go with other candidates." The timing makes no sense though because I was given a Phase 2 invite and before I got a hire right e-mail or a "enter your SSN and DOB" e-mail I got the boot.

The way it went down doesn't pass the sniff test. I didn't even begin Phase 2. No follow on e-mails past that one original. If I did get the boot, I have no idea what would make me a better candidate in 6 months to be honest. I had everything squared away for this time. Frustrating!

I haven’t clicked on the link you were talking about though, I’m curious to see what’s on the other end of that link too!
Oh. I didn’t receive a link for the 1 on 1. Never saw anything about that in my emails.

There seems to be some miscommunication on etiquette when applying for jobs especially with the newer generation of “fast track” pilots.

This is not meant to be a dig, or negative in anyway. Just some friendly reminders…

I keep seeing the same things on here repeatedly. There are thousands of applicants, if you don’t hear anything, leave it alone. Don’t blow up the inbox of pilot hiring. If successful during any part of the process, they will contact you! I’ll admit it can be frustrating, but don’t be bothersome, impatient, or come across as entitled to a job. There’s no secret code to who gets a call when, or who moves along first. And if you weren’t successful they’ll tell you. If you really want to be here specifically, re-apply…

Maybe you had an off day during the interview, or maybe you need just a little bit more experience still. The internet doesn’t have the answers. Don’t beat yourself up.

HR also isn't going to specifically divulge why you weren’t successful via an email. They have legal obligations & policies to uphold. I know it’s hard but, just be patient. This is the easiest time to get to a major airline in almost the last 30 years, be grateful for that.

I had three external LORs. I didn’t know anyone at JetBlue well enough to feel comfortable asking for a LOR… and I still got the job. LORs are not make it or break it here. They’re only looked at after the interview and will probably only be taken into account by the Pilot Hiring Committee if they’re on the fence about you. Good luck!
So are you saying LORs aren’t valid until you already received a response to your application? I have had an application in for a while and haven’t heard anything. No recs on the application although I know a guy in training there now that said he would do one for me. Just trying to learn that secret sauce. Haven’t heard much from any airline.

During the application process they made it pretty clear that LORs are not looked at until you successfully make it past the F2F interview and on to Phase II.

So any idea what might be throwing an application into invisible pile? While FOs I fly with get picked up within weeks of applying.

To be honest, I don’t know. I was one of those FOs who got picked up within weeks of applying.
They have thousands of applicants so it’s kinda hard to say what would cause them to choose one qualified applicant and not another.
When I applied I had roughly 3,900TT, 800 TPIC (single engine), 121 and 135 experience, Special Qualification (Aspen) experience, and 2 type ratings. One failed checkride (instrument) from back in 2008 but other than that a squeaky clean record. I was neither under-qualified nor over-qualified. Most guys in my class were roughly in that same experience area.
Attaching LORs to your application can’t hurt you but like I mentioned previously they were pretty clear about not looking at them until Phase II. I even had to bring in copies of my LORs during my interview even though I had attached them to my application. They got put in a folder with the rest of my docs and that was the last I saw them. Never even mentioned during the interview.

Right now I just resubmit all my info on the profile and new resume/cover letter to my existing application. I have a former FO colleague in training there who said he would write a rec for me so I was thinking maybe that was what I needed but now idk.
My experience is AF veteran (didn’t fly. I did F16 engine maintenance) A&P license, part 107 license. 2800 hours of UAV/UAS experience in Afghanistan doing ISR missions. College graduate in aviation (magma cum laude) current regional CA. 3600tt and 715 TPIC all 121.
Busted my FO ATP oral as a new hire….I’ll admit I wasn’t prepared. The questions I got asked were very different than what the airline told us to study so I was caught off guard. Took it again 2 days later and it was fine. And 11 months ago as a downgraded FO I was pulled off a line check cause my medical was cut in half instead of folded. Got a new medical the next day. Seemed extreme but I pressed on.
