Update on hiring:

11/10 class had 36 with 2 seniority list instructors. Not certain of the drop but looks like a mix. That puts the number at 294 hired so far this year, with 4,271 seniority list pilots. There are supposed to be 50 in the next class dec 1st, and close to 50 the class after that, so just under 400 will have been hired this year. I’m guessing with the remaining retirements and attrition there will be around 4,350 on the seniority list end of year. Last I heard was 600+ hires next year.

It says I have 7 days to complete but I won't be home for at least 12 days.

2 options:

1: are you near a Walmart/target/kohls/goodwill? Buy a cheap button up and call it good.

2: JetBlue isn’t that kind of airline. If you look professional you’re good. I’d say no to graphic tees, but what you described is fine. Not one person would hold that against you.

This is terrible advice . Email recruitment and get the extension . Do the video interview in business professional attire .

I’d go with option number one.
If you don’t get passed the video interview you don’t want to always wonder if it was because you wore a polo. It’s too big of a job to risk it.
Also, you want to get in the pool and a class ASAP. If you feel ready for the interview, get an Uber to Kohl’s or Target and buy a shirt and tie. Hell, buy a decent blazer and return it the next day (I’ve done this before).

this a hundred times
over. Don’t pass up the interview (could cost you a furlough later in life. Get a jacket from kohls etc and return it the next day.

I did mine overseas in a polo shirt and a contractor beard, no haircut. Got the F2F request two weeks later.. YMMV. I emailed recruiting, or the company that sets up the computer question screening, they said "it will be fine in a polo and beard". I did it and it worked out fine..

Default Letters of Rec

Hey all, maybe I’m overthinking this but figured no harm in checking. Are you all using letters of Recommendation from people in the aviation field only? Or does it not matter as long as it’s a letter of Rec. Thanks for the help!

Overall, I imagine LORs should be from someone in the field, preferably a pilot… someone who cannot only attest to your character but also to your professionalism in the flight deck and your flying skill. That being said, the only requirements that were mentioned in the interview packet were the following: 1: Dated within the past twelve (12) months, 2: Signed by the writer. 3: Include a phone number where the writer can be reached. 4: Include the writer’s email address.
I had three external LORs. I didn’t know anyone at JetBlue well enough to feel comfortable asking for a LOR… and I still got the job. LORs are not make it or break it here. They’re only looked at after the interview and will probably only be taken into account by the Pilot Hiring Committee if they’re on the fence about you. Good luck!
