Why not? When I got hired in 2019 the plan was to hire 2500 more pilots. With this NEA, I could easily see us keeping all the 190’s for another (‘as long as they’re profitable’ years). At the very least, we keep half of them while speeding up deliveries of 220’s. As someone pointed out, we’re expected to start exceeding 2019 levels by the fall. I’m sure they plan to hire and train as many as they can.
Trust me I hope you are right and I am wrong.

Sounds like all the 190s are hanging around… I think what I heard was they’ll see what kind of deal they can make with the leased ones getting the lessor to cover some costs of long term Mx. Sounds like the AA stuff driving the change in course regarding keeping vs retiring them.
But man they need a redo of those interiors some are beat to crap unfortunately.

eh. Not a company guy here, but I’m pretty happy here.
I think given the pandemic, our aggressiveness has been great. Instead of being walked all over, we are fighting for growth, new routes, and increased market share.
edit- I’m not sure if you were referring to pilot hiring numbers or something else.
if it was, I am in total agreement that the last few years, the pilot hiring numbers have changed almost daily, and that is frustrating. I hope for more consistency in pilot hiring moving forward.

Jump seated on you all to work. As always a great ride. Was talking to the crew and they said they only had 4 in the new hire class. I saw hiring posts through off brand sites like indeed, flying seeker etc. but nothing on jetblues actual site. Any rumors of when they think hiring is going to open on the jetblue site?

Actually that 6/5 date looks like an error—that doesn’t make sense. Saw the date on the training calendar but I don’t think it’s correct. I think day 0 is tomorrow and their first official day is Thursday if there is in fact a class this week. I’ll try to find out.
