A lot bypass because they can make more in the right seat than the left with how things are constructed here. I don’t think a displacement to the right seat is going to cause many to struggle to pay the bills at $2xx/hour. If so….I'm guessing their lifestyle wasn’t sustainable on CA pay either. I guess everyone has their own story though.

But we are parking the E190s, which has been the open plan for a long time. What do you want them to do with your E190CA seat?

Although, I do agree it's frustrating watching our peers have great careers (for now) while JB continues to give us the full Jetblue Affect.
Just venting frustration. I'm not on the 190, but I still may be losing the left seat to displacements. I know the E190s need to go away, but in a perfect world rather than shrink/displace, those guys would take open spots on other fleets. I'm just getting tired of having to worry about another displacement while others in the industry look forward to upgrades and new flying. Again, just frustrated is all.

Not gonna lie, this made me laugh out loud.

This….at these pay rates it’s very easy to make in the right seat well more than a reserve captain or working some typical Jetblue redeye garbage line as a captain. I’m one of those holdouts too, top 15% in base and I pull what a captain working a reserve or even an 80hr line would make without really trying much, except I’m home at night, every night.

The question to be asked and answered is: with the airline shrinking, airplanes grounded for basically a year, delayed deliveries or no deliveries at all, where is the capacity to absorb displacements? Is everyone going to reserve status or furloughs are in the near future?

As a top seniority FO do you think the financial benefit is still there (broadly speaking) with reduced VDA opportunity? Have there been reductions in DFT with slowing of hiring? I’m wondering if we see some movement of top FOs to the left seat in the next few bids.

New bases perhaps?

Sooooo just so we’re painting a clear picture here. You’re home every night while having to get almost 120hrs of FO pay to make CA guarantee? if you’re home every night are you staring at FLICA, have software “help”, or down to a handful of days off? That’s a solid chunk of VDA to expect every month. Unless you’re getting 10Hr DH turns each day.

I would double check your math on that one. Don’t want to speak for him, but if he’s a senior FO and knows how to use the CBA to his benefit, he probably hits 120 hours without much effort. He probably works less days and block than those who just do their trip and go home. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.) Contrary to what some think, it’s not a life of working 24 days a month and blocking 97 hours to get that credit value. I’ve had 120 hour months without VDA, it’s not all about the VDAs.
