Downsize... possibly? Do they need ~300 dudes and dudettes in LA with 21 departures/day? Maybe not? Alaska closed NY and somehow makes it work cross-country. The company has not told us anything about their "plan B" or what's to become of LAX long-term. It's highly possible they themselves don't know.
Only thing you can do is try to reach out and tell the hiring team you were told LAX was closing and beg for forgiveness. Or if you know someone behind the scenes, they may be able to help as well.

Closing... probably not? Many here will tell you the company depends on LA crews to mop up when the system gets AFU. However, they cancelled the new LA crew room construction project.

Then they killed our LA routes and made it clear there was no Plan B. The phone calls from concerned pilot friends increased. That's when I immediately went out and secured my own Plan B. Hope is not a plan. I would really like to stay, and I eagerly await the announcement of...honestly, anything. It sounds like we'll find out in the Fall, but even that isn't concrete. The Boston Editorial that just came out took some liberties, but the overall message was on the nose. I hope it's registering.

When Spirit got shot down I was, like most of us, disappointed. However, I saw the silver lining... At least we wouldn't be taking on all that debt they have. At least it would leave us nimble and able to do things such as lease planes for the short-term, buy for the long-term, and expand to places they've long been promising like Hawaii. Certainly they would understand that our West Coast Customers don't want to connect to EU via JFK/BOS, and likewise for East Coast Customers and HNL/OGG. None of that would I expect to happen tomorrow, but I was certain we had a Plan B because they had been telling us as much for a year. I was sure they were going to come out swinging for the fence, any day. I told my OAL friends who were concerned for my future everything was fine, no need to apply to their airline or take them up on the offer for a letter of rec.

I've not been around long enough to have experienced the glory days the editorial referenced, but I'm certain it made its way to Marty and I'd bet even money that he addresses it in the next Pocket Session. At least, I hope he does.
