Yea I’m aware. The point is it never would have made it this far with a different administration. This ruling will all but kill Spirit Airlines and prevent JetBlue from become a viable national competitor to the 3 legacy airlines that dominate the market. But you say there’s validity here???

I don’t think they could. Frontier started this process by making a bid for NK, and JB responded with a superior bid.

imho Biden’s isn’t running anything. He is just there as a figurehead. Behind the scenes you have the idealistic left wing staffers running things. This is all about that idealistic view. The previous mergers we’re under reasonable presidents who were actually running things.

The best part is to save competition the judge and the DOJ may have killed spirt and cemented the current environment where the small guys can’t take on the big ones unless something really changes.

I wonder if the DOJ had bothered to sue when the big 6 became the big 3 other than here just divest some stuff would they have ever been approved.

I think this sums it up for us with this and the nea ruling. Fun fact jenny is from Alaska.

I didn't; the judge did.

The previous administration blocked broadcom and Qualcomm, DraftKings and fanduel and they wanted to sue AT&T/Time Warner. It’s not all sunshine and rainbows because of a different administration. See: Railroad Workers

That's my understanding from friends inside the beltway.

Us Airways/United merger was halted under G.W. Bush’s Administration.

His Deputy Assistant AG stated that the “proposal did not assure competition for those adversely affected by the acquisition, such as passengers in east coast connect markets, and instead substituted regulation for competition on some key routes and created competitive harms through United’s and American’s agreement to jointly fly and price the New York, Washington and Boston shuttle routes.”

There may be politics involved in these decisions, but whether the Prez is a D or an R doesn’t seem to have much to do with it.

I was thinking the same thing. We need to do a welfare check on Andy.

https://www.cnbc.com/2024/01/19/jetb...ed-merger.html

what is the feeling you guys are getting from the company about how they feel about appealing the judges decision?

more so because they’re obligated too?

or they still think they have a chance?
