Alaska is no threat in NY/FL. Even less after this acquisition. Can’t argue it’s defensive action. HAL product may align a bit more with JetBlue, but the native & serve locals aligns more with Alaska. Less consumer and employee culture shock and offers more connectivity too. Alaska can continue to battle Southwest better on equal footing. In ten years maybe the JetBlue as an addition partner makes sense, if we all make it that far.

What I’m not clear on is why this merger? All four of the big 4 were created while the current president was VP.

Anything resembling common sense went completely out the window with the current administration. I didn’t necessarily agree with Obama’s policies/agenda, but he was actually smart. Biden is a career buffoon, and let’s not pretend he’s even running this administration. He can barely finish a sentence.

Yes, I was thinking this would be a way to push AS back from LAX/SFO a bit, and/or keep them focused on short haul north/south flying along the west coast instead of WB TPAC or a better transcon product. All while giving us faster access to WBs we can deploy TATL/South

In the end I think I’m just salty about a future where AS successfully merges with HA and then down the road we get screwed with a SLI against that combined group. I’d rather see AS consumed by SWA in a merger or just stay a regional carrier focused on SEA/PDX/ANC.

The judge that made this decision was appointed by Reagan

The Biden DOJ brought the case. Another administration would not have.

Retaliation for us siding with controllers and calling it National instead of Reagan.

So sounds like it had validity if a conservative appointed judge agreed then

JetBlue probably should have waited for a more favorable administration to attempt this.
