I think the tough thing is that HA has an offer sitting on their desk from AS right now and they need to either accept or deny that (and have a damned good reason to deny it). I dont think we can wait for a new administration to make a move, we need to outbid AS now.

Legitimate point, just hate to “over pay” in another bidding war, but you might be right, they gotta do something with that approved financing money.

The door is cracked open just a bit, question is whether we want to stick our foot in or be left out in the cold.

Offer $2.1b cash deal and play the NK CEO game stating how AS/HA is anti-competitive due to overlap and reduced frequency in mainland-Hawaii, blah blah.

I don't see how we outbid Alaska in a bidding war. They have much deeper pockets than we do. We've played this game before with them.

Agreed, then lets at least play it again and make them pay more than $1.9b. That's a bargain price

This I agree with as a strategy.

Not sure yet on the wisdom of buying HA right now.

Gives us WB access, prevents AS from growing too much outside their PNW stronghold (I cant see them flying WBs unless its from a HA acquisition). Strengthens western US leisure offerings which could help support new western focus cities

Could be fun. Boy I would hate to be responsible for ruining HAs great ontime performance numbers. 😂
