if Jetblue doesn’t work out, why don’t we just join in on the Hawaiian/Alaska merger and make it a threesome?

that would sure be a head scratcher.

You honestly think if we can't get one merger going, we'll be able to sneak a triple past the administration?

I don't want Chapter 7 where I would be forced to update the old resume and be stuck with a 23 yr old, 2000hr Pilot as my Sim Partner at a legacy who takes selfie after selfie with a caption blabbing about how hard they worked and how it's been such a long journey.......

JB + NK is just creating another attempt at something somewhere between southwest and the legacies and removing a ULCC which is already giving F9 the market of being the only (big) ULCC anyways. I don't think breeze, allegiant, or Avelo are close to being competitive yet, time will tell with them.

Legally, thinking about 2 ULCCs merging makes more sense since it is the model of the company to keep prices down for customers, You can't just jack up prices for a ULCC and keep the model of the business. I guess you could have ULCC competition? but what happens when you are already in the bottom of what you can charge for seats/ancillaries?

Also, Animals on the tails are the best thing ever. Only a few US carriers beat the F9 livery (imo, especially Chinkook N369FR) and that is a few of Southwest's specials and JB's Bruins plane because I am a huge Bruins fan.

There is no part of the law that requires the judge to consider who is a "ULCC" vs a "LCC" vs a "SDULCC" (super-duper-ULCC). And there is nothing in the law that defines the market as ULCC or LCC or etc...

The market is air travel, and competition is more likely to be defined as number of competitors or market share and overlap, of THE GENERAL AIR TRAVEL MARKET. Now, which combination has CONSIDERABLY more overlap, JB+NK or F9+NK?

Before you answer, JB+NK has EIGHT overlapping routes that haven't been addressed by one airline or the other already leaving the market and/or divestitures.

Now go, we'll wait!

exactly. Frontier and spirit could merge and become a full service airline. The ULCC argument from the DOJ is complete BS. Spirit can become a full service airline tomorrow if they want and just might do that if the merger fails. They recognize that the crap we are providing isn’t what the customer wants and more money is to be made as a full service provider
