The American public news cycle time is very short lived, if they announce end of today, by Tuesday morning, when stock market opens again; it will be old news, most of the public and business trading world will have forgetten about it or absorbed it, so there will be less "emotional" response on Tuesday. Same goes for DOJ and DOT news reaction; the government office's are all basically closed this afternoon before a holiday weekend, by Tuesday morning; old news.

I hope, I have been waiting to see what happens. No matter what, the industry is in for a real shake up and change this year.

Interesting thought! If something is announced after market close today, the after hours traders along with pre market on Tuesday will dump their spirit shares if the ruling is in favor of the DOJ.

It's a sell-leaseback. Very common in the airline industry.

Apparently you're knew. So, welcome.

The beginning of sentences are capitalized while jetBlue isn't. Periods typically follow sentences as well.

Leasebacks. Not really different than owning the planes and using the equity as collateral to sell bonds.

American Airlines Enters Into Sale-Leaseback Arrangement With ILFC to Finance 15 Boeing 737-800 Next Generation Aircraft
November 9, 2011 FORT WORTH, Texas, Nov. 9, 2011 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --

American Airlines announced today it has entered into a sale-leaseback arrangement with International Lease Finance Corporation (ILFC), a leading international leasing organization and wholly owned subsidiary of American International Group, Inc. (NYSE: AIG), to finance 15 previously-ordered Boeing 737-800 Next Generation aircraft, two of which have been delivered and the remainder of which are scheduled to be delivered to American in 2012.

ILFC will purchase the aircraft from American and immediately lease the aircraft back to American under a sale-leaseback financing arrangement.

"We are pleased to establish a strategic relationship with ILFC," said AMR Chief Financial Officer Bella Goren. "This transaction, which will provide financing for 15 of our new 737-800 aircraft, is an effective means for diversifying our funding sources and we look forward to a long-term partnership with ILFC."
Delta does it too:

United as well:

Actually, JetBlue is correct when discussing the airline. The form "jetBlue" is reserved for materials with the corporate logo on it.

I had heard some rumblings/rumors of a Jan 12 decision. My expectation was a post market release.

Then today the DOJ made another filing... My opinion is they were aware of the decision today, probably don't expect to win after reading the post-trial briefs, and made this additional filing today to pressure the judge to delay the release and consider the info. Just to be jerks. Upon reading the filing, and JB's response later in the day, I think it was a complete nothing-burger.

Credit goes to FlyBy who found or made me aware of the filings today.
