A tiny percentage of your pilots— working for a company unrecognizable to the one you currently work for—voted to strike eons ago. In the years that followed, however, your group undercut nearly every single other ALPA carrier on every CBA, benefiting from rapid seniority growth as a result.
JB’s pre-union PEAs and comp packages were never that far out of line with industry standard. As soon as that changed, we voted in ALPA and got it back in line with our (non-ULCC) peer group.
So let’s chill with the whole “500 guys went on strike in the 2000s” nonsense, and keep things in perspective here. Spirit pilots haven’t exactly held the line on industry standard compensation in over a decade.

Im not saying our group would do something else. God knows we have a serious boot licker problem here, but to hold up that strike as evidence of something is kind of silly.

I think he keeps hoping that DOJ will blink and it will be a negotiated settlement. Because a legal precedent either way would have somebody screaming at him.

The American public news cycle time is very short lived, if they announce end of today, by Tuesday morning, when stock market opens again; it will be old news, most of the public and business trading world will have forgetten about it or absorbed it, so there will be less "emotional" response on Tuesday. Same goes for DOJ and DOT news reaction; the government office's are all basically closed this afternoon before a holiday weekend, by Tuesday morning; old news.
Just a theory
