The people I’ve known in their 80s that are seemingly healthy sometimes live well into their 90s and sometimes they just don’t wake up tomorrow for no apparent reason. That’s my biggest worry w this guy.
And why the hell is court closed today?! Saturday was Veterans Day and observed Friday. Is this Diwali observed?

Might be time to go outside and get some fresh air before we all start worrying about your health. Take a deep breath lol.

Got vacations to plan and need to know if I’m going to have to take a massive pay and QOL cut to jump off this pile of hot garbage if the merger isn’t approved.

You should link up with all the Southwest pilots threatening to leave. I bet there might be enough to start a small airline. Hurry up and rage quit! I need some more seniority!

Even it JB wins, some have argued the DOT/White House might attempt some sort of unprecedented executive action to still block it—they’d eventually lose in the Supreme Court, but I’m convinced they’d do anything to score points with their electorate going into 2024.
Then you also have the possibility of JB backing out AFTER winning, and attempting to avoid the breakup fee/walking, by arguing there has been a material adverse change in the underlying asset values at NKS (tons of defective engines).
I think the last point about JB balking due to defective engines is highly unlikely, given the fact it was not known by Spirit at the time of the transaction, but anyone can try anything until a court decision compels them otherwise.
And then you have a lengthy JCBA process, and potential base/status fences, before say a JB pilot or NK pilot can just walk into a LAS/BOS/DTW CA seat or whatever, regardless of their new post-SLI seniority.
So yeah, not sure of your situation, just saying if your future QOL/income is predicated solely on any aspect of this merger, I’d suggest pressing forward as if it isn’t ever happening

If you’re at a point where you’re relying on the outcome of this trial to decide whether you’re jumping ship or not, you should go ahead and put apps out.

It is a gamble sure, but it could pay off massively. If a sucessful merger is more fortuitous than leaving for another carrier for someone, it makes perfect sense to wait and see the outcome of a trial. there is a soft deadline of the end of the year so its not like you would have to wait long. And if they win the trial there is a very good chance they go through with the merger in the long run regardless of additional hurdles.
