How are you this uninformed about publically traded companies? 99.52% of spirit is public, with vanguard being the largest holder at 9.04%.

JFC it's all disclosed by law.

Hey babe, still with the hostility….

Pretty sure the ‘general public’ he was asking about were the shares owned by non-institutional investors.

Vanguard is the general public. **** like this is just annoying. you can debate the merits of one move vs the other but he's clearly taken aside and trying to float misleading crap to back his position with no actual facts. It bugs me. sorry if it's too mean.

For the record, most of the top 10 owners (representing roughly 35% he claims is ALL the general public) are large firms representing huge swaths of the public.

It's just asinine to imply that the public shareholder is not what matters in decisions such as these. Full disclosure I'm a spirit shareholder and am super ****ed I may be losing out on large returns because of the board's choices which I find are most definitely suspicious.

That’s a distinction without a meaningful difference. Institutional investors vote their shares to maximize their profits too.

From the WSJ:

For America’s public companies, election day comes every year when common shareholders get to vote on directors, executive compensation and other company issues.

But if you are an investor whose primary exposure to stocks is through mutual funds and retirement accounts, your role in this “shareholder democracy” is likely to be limited. That’s because votes aren’t typically awarded to small investors in mutual funds or exchange-traded funds. Instead, the asset-management company that runs the fund votes, by proxy, on behalf of the investors.

The result is that asset managers wield great power, though investors both large and small are angling to have more of a voice. With that in mind, we answer some commonly asked questions about what your money is doing when it comes to proxy voting.

Sorry the level of completely uniformed crap you've been spewing triggered me. So I guess guilty as charged.

I'm obviously voting one way, maybe the mysterious owners of spirit vote a different way. We'll just have to wait and see. It's nice to actually have a vote with the shares I own tho.

Maybe he means on Mint flights?

Or you could sit on your Eat-Up box for a few mins.
