JetBlue bids for Spirit Airlines

A staple will never happen nor is it fair. Relative seniority isn’t really much more fair either for the Jetblue guys. No wonder the spirit guys want that. I too would want that if I was in spirit. Even spirit straight DOH would be a gift to the spirit group. Let’s call it for what it is. Bases not a factor Jetblue is the more desirable airline. Throw rocks at me if you will but it’s always been easier to get a call from spirit than Jetblue. If you give a regional pilot applying to both an option most if not all would choose Jetblue (again base not a factor). Outside of the seldom few that leave for a base the tiers have always been Fedex,UPS, Delta, United at 1 with American and southwest at 1b. Tier 2 was Jetblue and Alaska. Tier 3 has been the frontier and spirit and Atlas. After those came the remaining airlines.
If someone wants to argue against that then that’s fine. How many Jetblue guys going to spirit? I know a few spirit at JetBlue. I don’t say that with any diminishing of people happy at spirit, but as many in Jetblue if United or delta has acquired us I wouldn’t be happy about losing seniority but I wouldn’t deny is a better place.
Also to the post about Jetblue money and how much money spirit makes… Jetblue is acquiring spirit (not that that plays any into a seniority Integration but it should) CASH.
Of course the spirit pilots here would say relative seniority should be it. That way the 2015 pilot could be senior to the JetBlue 2007 pilot. At straight DOH the JetBlue pilot had to have higher qualifications to get the call and his company purchased the other and converted their airline but of course the spirit pilot would argue they should be more senior.

According to ALPA policy, construction of a fair and equitable seniority list should take into account career expectations, longevity, and status and category.
I think in an F9/NK merger the SLI would have been a no brainer. But B6/NK? I think the closest thing recently was the AS/VX merger and I think the inevitable mediator (because the two pilot groups aren’t EVER going to agree) will use that as a precedent.

And the NK pilots will say they went to NK for the three year upgrade while the B6 pilots were content when they signed on to wait twice that long or more. Everybody can come up with a reason they ought to be favored because of differing expectations.

Because chasing an upgrade has worked out so well in the past. Also I think my point still stands the hiring minimums are lower in spirit. I’ll all for the working with the Spirit pilots. I’ve met nothing but great people there and from my previous airline they’re all amazing that are there. If it was Alaska I’d say it’s more so a fair comparison and apples to apples regardless if I lost seniority I’d make more sense. I think that’s what happened with Alaska Virgin. Same airline just west coast east coast. I’m just saying it’s not apples to apples. If it was straight relative seniority that’d be heavily inclined the spirit way. If that balance was to swing one way it should be the other way, just as ID expect or understand if it was a legacy merging with JetBlue.

Well someone in the AS thread said AS made a cash offer for B6 so I guess we will hear soon. And it interesting what happens now.

Yeah….I doubt we’ll hear anything soon. These big merger/acquisition announcements always get announced suddenly out of left field. Just like NK/JB and NK/F9. The fact that someone started an APC rumor doesn’t give me much confidence that it’s true.

Those Alaska threads have had us merging with Hawaiian, Southwest, JetBlue, Sun Country, Allegiant, and United. Alaska is such a miserable place now that people jump at the thought of a merger even if it would be a negative for the pilots most likely.
