I waited an hour, and left 1:45 min late, waiting for fuel at T5 two days ago. It was raining, not storming, raining, and that was ops excuse for our “business partner” getting us fuel..

I’ve been asked countless times when I’m seen in public in the uniform, even stopping for coffee on my way to the airport, “what happened to Jetblue?”
don’t wear uniform in public. Problem solved

However I agree I don’t understand this obsession with large planes. Get the more 321s and open a few more European city’s after that look at large planes. If ever. I’m not even sure I see the point of them if the 321 does fine.
I tend to agree with this. Don’t get me wrong I like the legacy pay rates for widebodies but that’s about it. The 321XLR (assuming it performs as advertised) is all that we need to cover Europe. Widebodies would make better use of slots in tough places like LHR, but that’s a big step for just one airport. I can’t think of any other European airports that are so difficult to get slots. Someday if TPAC or Deep South flying becomes a priority then maybe widebodies make more sense for the range and cargo capacity.

I like the idea Robin stated a few years ago about ~50 TATL flights/day by 2030. We could serve smaller EU airports as well as smaller US airports. Lots of potential when you aren’t so focused on filling a widebody.

I haven’t monitored load factors since the early Covid days, but it seems to be firmly in the mid-80% range these days. That seems pretty normal, is it usually much higher?

I'm not convinced the XLR is going to have the legs they are claiming they'll have. If you want to consistently and effectively fly Europe routes, especially deep Europe, I think they'll need to get WBs.

Agree about the ambitious numbers from Airbus. Advertised range of 4700nm, but I think chop 1000nm off and you still have plenty of meat on the bone for us:

A map from Great Circle Mapper - Great Circle Mapper

Some of these longer routes could even be seasonal summer only.

I can only see what stafftraveler shows me, but we routinely go to London with 15+ empty seats, including standy, vs AA, DAL, UAL where you have zero hope of finding a standby seat unless you work there on much larger planes.

I honestly hope we are doing well on those routes, but light loads hurt on a 8-9 hr flight especially with no cargo to offset.

It really blows my mind how people come to blows when you're at a Major. People are begging to get out of a Regional, and then you do, and then everyone just complains that it still isn't enough; or X is better than Y.

At what point will you be happy with how much you make? With how much money is in your bank?

At what point do you stop complaining and, you know, be satisfied with your airline and the decisions that you made to get there? Plenty of people here are making great money with good 401Ks... yet, it isn't enough. Yet we must continue to argue about whom is better off.

Oh boy, these sound like words spoken by someone that wasn’t employed at an airline right after 9/11. Furloughs, lost pensions, huge pay cuts and we’re still fighting to get those rates back with record inflation.

Keep telling yourself whatever you need to, or make excuses for, bud.

Just stop lying about it.
