@4:50 mark Robin talks about needing to add a focus city around 2023-2024. And did he say 15 round trips to Europe 10yrs from now or 50?

Either way, it’s all fluff and fantasy at this point. Take it for what it’s worth.
Good to see Corp finally talking about more focus cities.

For fun, guesses?

STI/SDQ, but too obvious.

LAX new terminal?

According to this we will have 3 gates at the new mid field concourse. Not sure how accurate that is.

🤣🤣 Co-base SDQ/STI for sure, but beyond that my guess would be SFO. Particularly with how we are doing vs Alaska on transcons and AS has been shrinking the SFO transcon flying that VX had.

I'm sure they would like to grow LAX but even with the midfield concourse I dont see enough expansion for us to make a significant difference, additionally I wouldn't call that a new focus city since LGB/LAX are already a co-base.

They already said that they are looking at BNA, PHX, and LAS.

For focus cities? Haven’t heard those ones, but could all make sense in one way or another.

Apparently Scott Lawrence said that on a recent ask Jim call.

Regarding PHX, it sounds like F9 may set up a base there soon. Allegiant has an IWA base, and apparently Moxy will be setting one up at IWA as well. With a huge AA/WN PHX presence, moderate DL presence, plus the IWA stuff, I’m not sure how JB could fit in there without a big fight.

That said, LAS is pretty saturated as well with many carriers. Same with the Northern California airports. Guessing it’ll be a fight wherever it is if it’s an organic growth attempt.

Dca? Huh huh?

I think Wobbin said 50 but that seems very very high.

Ahh, I see. Come to think of it I do also remember those cities being tossed around a few years ago after the VX bid was lost. Maybe they will make a go of it. PHX/LAS both seem to have a lot of ULCC and mainline presence already. BNA might be interesting since it is a SWA stronghold but not overrun with ULCCs yet.

That does seem like a lot. I guess makes sense though, 26 A321 LR/XLRs doing 1 roundtrip per day with 1 as a spare a/c?
