Competitive Hiring Statistics?
Any of JetBlue line pilots, or new hires have an estimate of competitive stats for being called for an interview? Is anyone being called in without a reference letter from a current JetBlue pilot? Thanks for the information. Frats, Tomcat

Competitive Qualifications
Our computers surface the most competitive applicants in the database. These files are then reviewed by a team of line PILOTs. Due to the high volume of applications we receive, competitive qualifications can be significantly higher than the minimum requirements. On average, we are currently seeing the following background in candidates selected to interview:
• Between 3,000 and 10,000 hours total time in airplanes
• Greater than 2,000 hours turbine PIC in jets
• Greater than 2,000 hours in airplanes at or above 20,000 pounds (maximum takeoff weight)
• Experience with more sophisticated aircraft utilizing Electronic Flight Instrument Systems (EFIS), Flight Management Systems (FMS)
• Bachelor’s Degree

FWIW, there is some conjecture on how much a letter on file can actually help secure an interview; however letters are very important during the post-interview phase of the selection process. Don’t let this hold you back: JetBlue is very aggressive in selecting pilots of ALL backgrounds and many new hires do not have an internal reference.

Tomcat,
I was hired 1&1/2 yrs ago. 6500 hours. No jet PIC, all of it was turboprop. I did have two letters from JetBlue pilots but I had not flown with them. They didn't count towards the three that I needed from people that had flown with me.
Hope that helps
