My response to a lot of the whining I see here was grossly over-simplified. We ARE professionals, and we SHOULD get paid an amount commensurate with our skill level. Heck, I think it is nearly criminal that when we switch companies, we have to start over at the bottom again. Not too many career fields have this negative about them.

It’ll go to some new hires now. Airbus in JFK and FLL. 190 in BOS and JFK.

Buddy of mine hired almost a year ago will be there in June. So over a year for a guy hired a year ago. But in this last bid there were 13 unfilled vacancies. So newhires will get it. If you get the 190 in training it will be a year before your equipment lock is up. If they fill FLL with those 13, it could be a year or 2 before any others go there. Hard to tell. I’d plan on 0-18 months for expectation management purposes. Our bids have been kind of weird lately (FLL CA way junior to JFK/BOS for example) and with the new annual system bid instead of quarterly bids it may get weirder.

They’re still not offering FLL for new hires, but new hires can bid for and get FLL through the system bid, which goes into effect 6 months later. Is that correct? A guy in my class (2/19) got JFK out of training but was just awarded FLL.

Going forward they’re going to have to fill 13 vacancies with new-hires in FLL. It’ll be totally separate from the system bid. The system bid that just closed caused this. Same thing happened in LGB about a year ago.

Ok gotcha. And with 109 Bus vacancies in JFK now looks like the Bus will continue to go to new hires, which should ease the training backlog on the E190 side. I’m kind of surprised more people didn’t bid the Bus.

About 120 vacancies for the 190, so they’ll be just as busy and with less resources.

True, but that should mean bigger classes. Seems like they can’t handle classes bigger than about 15 or so if it’s all E190. It would be difficult to hire 400 pilots this year if they were all going into the 190.
