Class Drops

Anyways, using the unions math, our top CA rate now is $300. So take $300x1.02= $306/hour (identical to what Alaska was pre LOA snap-up). January it will be $312, times 1.02= $318.24 (also identical to what Alaska was pre LOA snap-up).

It’s convoluted how our 321 override works. It’s based on a percentage of block hours flown as a ratio over overall block hours. During the depths of Covid, we got zero override as the 321s weren’t flying. The union likes to publish it as 2% on top of our base pay rates, in reality it’s closer to 1.5%. So take our base pay, times by 1.015-ish and that’s our override. It was designed this way when we had less than a handful of 321s going between ACY/DTW and FLL; regardless if you flew the plane, you got the pay.

thanks for explaining that. I’ll take one rate, that way I get 321 pay to fly a 320! 😂

Is that NK rate with or without the override?

Yes, and I’ll also get A321 pay to fly a 320. If a company parks a large sub fleet pay stays the same just like NK saw during Covid. Bottom line is it’s a minuscule thing and shouldn’t steal brain power in a negotiation.

My preference is still to see an NK style override for the 321. The exception being SQ of course.
It's hard enough to get the trips you want if you aren't in the top 5-10% in seat. The right days of the week, commutable if that's what you want, the layover you want, etc... Now add in guys cherry picking a trip just because it is a 321...
We should FULLY capture the value of the higher 321 pay rates, but how that is distributed is up to us, and I'd rather see it as an override for all 320/321 flying above the base pay rate.

Do SQ pilots get some sort of override? My biggest concern with Europe Flying is doing WB flying for NB pay rates. Thoughts?
