6/14/2022 class is 10 pilots.
2 JFK320
2 BOS320
3 JFK190
3 BOS190

The 190 sims in Orlando are full, so all six 190 pilots in this class will be doing their sims in Dallas.

Congrats!! Honestly don’t even look back unless you’re looking to feel extra good for going to a real airline. It’ll be fun to see how we are going to retain pilots and attract new ones. Unless the economy really takes a huge tumble which unfortunately I’m expecting I don’t see how we will keep up, specially post merger.

The economy worries me, but honestly, I don’t see myself being much safer at JetBlue as a 3600 number. If I had six more years of seniority here I would stay. Probably. But I will never have seniority at JetBlue until I’m 60 years old. And the merger with Spirit fully makes it worse.

Add to that the degradation of what used to be great pairings, and it becomes an easy decision. I’ll miss the cockpit culture here.

3600 out of 5000 (by years end)? I would say that’s safer than bottom of any legacy list. Not that I would turn down a job at Delta. Why would you think your seniority will be worse with Spirit acquisition? Did you see where you’d be on that list that was going around? I’m honestly curious. I was thinking thinking that maybe all the bases would spread around seniority and possibly help the stagnate situation here.

Yeah I’m with you. I think it’s a solid decision. People here are great but man Jojo is desperately trying to ruin this place. Double down on culture though! She does love that double down phrase.

First, between attrition and my opinion of how many we will actually hire, I doubt we will see 5000 this year. Highly doubt it in fact.
Second, Spirit has a younger and more junior pilot group than we do, and have done significant hiring in the last five years. That will undoubtedly have a negative effect on seniority progression. I also don’t think the combined growth won’t be the sum of both parts, it will be less. I do believe multiple bases would help seniority in our larger bases.

The good news is, you made your decision. For better or worse, don’t look back. Just move forward, Whatever that means today or 20 yrs from now.

Yea I could see us somewhere around 4800 at the years end realistically. I do have some trepidation about jumping to the bottom of someone’s list at the moment, although I think you’re making the right move. As far as Spirits young pilot group, I was thinking it would more negatively affect our senior guys near the top. I think it will be good overall for our pilot group to merge with them; more for strength in negotiations than anything else. I think my seniority here is right around yours; I’ve accepted my fate as seniority goes 😔I don’t have it in me to start over. I drive to work and do have a side biz, so I’m riding this out 😂 Good luck to you though man. Delta is the apex for sure.

Starting over is going to suck, mostly financially, more so in this economic climate with three young kids. I’m 41. I’ll drive to NYC at either airline.
There was a LOT of discussion in the house about the decision. I’ll tell you in a couple decades if it was the right one.
