With yesterday’s class:
303 hired this year
106 gone this year
197 net gain
4,517 on the list
I personally know of 3 leaving in the next week or 2, and 2 more awaiting a class date at a legacy. So, I have to think attrition will stay where it’s at or rise a little from what I see in my anecdotal small circle.
We are 5/12 of the way through the year as far as classes go. But the chief pilot says they are on track to hire over 1,000. Is 600 in 7 months possible? So far this year it’s been 60.6 average per month, with attrition averaging 21.2 per month. Extrapolating that out, they can do 430 or so more this year, although apparently they have been trying to increase instructor and check airman capacity, so perhaps they can ramp that up a little more and hit the target? Heard rumors they are again trying to park the 190s at an accelerated rate because the costs have gotten so out of control on them (maintenance, fuel, premium for being understaffed, and covering all the training churn). That would be quite interesting.

Would probably cost them something else to appease the rest of the pilot group but would save them an absolute huge amount in training and stabilize the operation.
they could probably focus on actually growing the list quicker too.
on my last two trips I have flown with new hires who after finally finishing 190 training, are only flying the line for about 4-5 months before their Airbus training starts.
But hey Jo is making the big bucks not me 🤷♂️

if they would just try and come to an agreement to raise 190 rates to 220 rates it would stop the churn.

I mean, if we doubled our culture every fiscal quarter, exponential growth kicks in, and after only a few years I'm pretty sure our culture could consume the observable universe.

Why stop there? We should TRIPLE down on culture! Can you imaging what could be accomplished with 3x 4x or even 5x as much culture as we have now?! OMG the sky is the limit!
