I don’t think it’s fair to assume that jetblue is just going to shrink into nothing. “No new hires” isn’t going to happen and the airline is a third the size of ua/dl/aa with the ability to grow much larger than it is now. It’s a good product managed by terrible managers. It makes a lot of money even so. Upgrade is sub 3 years, and we just initiated CBA 2 negotiations with a great need for pilots to stick around. Morale is low because we know what this airline could be and current leadership is unable to steer the ship towards that.
Also making predictions on how the next decade will go in this industry is kind of pointless. 18 months ago United was looking to send….I forget the exact number…upwards of 4,000 Warn letters. Both United and Delta are fantastic places to work now and if I only had a couple years of seniority and didn’t drive to work it would be tough not to make a move. Speaking of long-term, Jetblue does have some retirements that starts to pick up towards the end of this decade. Maybe not the 6% per year that AA has now, but about 4% is still something.

once the merger is complete they are moving all the ops to Miami. It’ll take awhile for the seniority integration to shake out but once it does probably 3-5 years

Nah, MIA is a junior base. It’ll go to newhires when all is said and done. FLL stays, it’ll be a large co-base to the MIA base. Or maybe they will make FLL the base and PBI and MIA the co-bases. Should be fun!

Since no one actually answered you , I will do my best! I start in a. couple weeks and from what I heard FLL most junior FO is about 2 years seniority. I do not work for JetBlue yet so I cannot guarantee my answer is correct!

You also have to factor in that there was no hiring for 14-15 months and there were displacements in that timeframe. So, the next 2 years won’t be like the last 2. Also, the NEA and LAX are getting all the growth due to prior commitments, then there’s a good chance FLL will follow in the 23-25 timeframe. Also, a ton will bleed off the bottom for the next couple years. So, in short, it could be 12-36 months depending on how things shake out. I’d bet it’s attainable for someone who starts soon at some point in 2023.

Sure too many people have said this before, but it’s only worth it for certain people. I’d be working more and likely making less.
I think for anyone hired here who doesn’t drive to their base though, I would say keep trying until you get hired at any major airline where you can drive to your base. I can’t think of any better gold standard. The hiring environment right now is too good to not place that as the highest priority. YMMV.
