Pete is spot-on. I was hired at Horizon in 2011, when upgrades virtually did not exist. But Horizon is a respected airline with a good operation, good pay and benefits; and most importantly, I got to stay in the Pacific Northwest.

I've learned three things coming into my fourth year in the 121 world.

1. Don't commute to log turbine SIC.
2. Work for an airline that's a decent shop with decent pay and benefits. Don't sell your soul to the devil because it MIGHT pay off (it usually doesn't...) with a quick upgrade time.
3. Put more on your resume than just flight time. Lots of people have 1000 turbine PIC with apps all over the place...and they're still at their regional. Experience in Flight Standards, being an instructor in Training, working as a project pilot or working with the Chief Pilot Office. Volunteering with a union committee is respectable. If you want to get on at a major, do more than just fly the line.

Horizon is a good shop. Respected airline. Good people. Good pay and benefits. Hiring like mad. Opportunities to fly a TON (as 117 will allow...) Great opportunities to get involved in a variety of areas.

Could I get a load check from PDX - MFR for today- each flight...I think there's three.

Also can I just go to the gate to list or should I use my id90?

It used to be upwards of 2 weeks to get a call back, with a competitive applicant. Try to be patient.

It took about 3 weeks for me. No reason to worry, each class has about 8-10 new hires on average.
