Ladies and gents, Karen called me today for an interview and looking for some guidance. I've gone back almost to the beginning of the thread and found that MFR is one of the Jr bases. My situation is separating from the AF out of Beale, about 4.5 hours drive from MFR. I don't want to relocate at all, so I'll be a commuter no matter what I do or where I go. Flying to MFR is a hassle with flights from SMF only through PDX and SEA. Is it feasible to make the drive from here to there and not hate myself and how long to hold a line in MFR currently? I also have interviews at CPZ and SKW. With LAX being senior at CPZ, holding a line there and commuting from SMF would be no big deal, and likewise, it doesn't sound like SFO for SKW would be any big deal. Thoughts, spears, etc.? If I've missed answers to my questions earlier in the thread, I apologize, I'm hanging with Capt. Morgan tonight.

I would not focus on the base closest to you if you had to drive that far, but that's just one opinion. For example. With just under a year I can hold a line in PDX but not in GEG where I live. So, I'm still sitting reserve most of the time. If you don't want to move I'd say look for the easiest commute. SEA and PDX are both feasible your first year with all the current movement. Good luck what ever you decide. It's been a great move for me.

Thanks, Casey, that's the kind of info I'm looking for. I'm not sure what would be the biggest pain at this stage in the game. Trying to 2-leg/4.5 hr drive to a line or 1-leg it to reserve...or maybe even a line at PDX or SEA.
