This is all from a newhire that I was speaking with. They said that SEA was overstaffed by 10 people. Makes some sense as there are a lot of reserves in SEA. With that said they are using the majority of the reserves from SEA go throughout the system to cover flying.
Upgrade wise. The most junior CA to have a published class right now is a 11/05 hire. 8 years, 11 months, if my math is correct. Everything is fluid and each bid something changes. We have a fair amount of people waiting for class dates at AS, some left for corporate and others just found new stuff.

The hotel is outstanding, for a Country Inn. If you make it down in time, there is a full free breakfast. About a mile and a half from the hotel is a huge shopping complex with a movie theatre, Target, Buffalo Wild Wings and several more places to eat.
While you are there check out Kennedy School. It's not far from the hotel and is one of the best places to unwind on the weekends (not that the training is that intense but you'll learn a lot and a beer to let loose).

The Country Inn is indeed pretty nice. The breakfasts are pretty good (although they get kind of old after 3 weeks), and there's a shuttle that runs to the QX ops center. The shopping complex near the hotel has some good food and shopping options (Ikea does a pretty good lunch), and the people that work at the hotel are all very friendly.
The Red Lion in Seattle however, isn't great. Their breakfast is something like $8 (for a mediocre buffet), the hallways kind of smell like pot on random occasions, and the rooms on higher floors can get uncomfortably warm because they don't have the AC running in the cooler months. There's a good sized mall maybe 10 minutes from the hotel, but you'd have to take a taxi to get there.
Trying to get to Flight Safety can be fun as well. Despite the fact that the hotel supposedly runs a van there on request, when I was in training, the hotel claimed it was unavailable about half the time (usually late at night), and the taxi company that was supposed to be a backup to the van was essentially useless. I drove to Portland and Seattle for training (both hotels will give you parking passes), and I ended up giving quite a few classmates rides back from Flight Safety because of that.

The best thing you can do in your spare time during sim to unwind is get on the light rail at the airport and catch a ride to downtown Seattle... It's about 30 minutes to ride all the way to Westlake station (the end of the line) but it drops you right in the middle of downtown.
