I applied last week and received a call from Karen so they can fly me to interview with Horizon in October. I read all the messages on this board, unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to afford flying with Horizon and having a family at the same time, the pay is definitely an issue. Any inside tips before declining the offer to interview with them?
thanks

Not sure. that's the reason am researching on this message board. Don't take it personal, but with less than 2k a month, there is no way I can survive anywhere with a family. I can go back and fly in the Navy reserve and make 5 times more, but I am done.

I think his point was first year pay at ALL regionals=crap.

FYI Horizon is on the higher end of the pay scale as far as regionals go.

There are a bunch of us that have guard and reserve jobs and that's the only reason we could survive the first year. As far as regional compensation goes you'd have a hard time convincing any one at QX that there is a better starting point in the regionals. That's especially true if your in the PNW already.

Just FYI, you'll probably make 40k your first year at AA if you get hired there. It goes up a good bit in the second year though.

Question if you don't mind me asking...
Background: I've been applying and interviewing with a few outfits. Interviewed with Envoy (got an offer a few months ago - but company outlook is grim at best) and Skywest which I didn't get despite my best and a pretty good interview. My immediate goal is to get back to west coast flying to be closer family (90% live in PNW - parents live in SoCal).
I've been trying to apply at Horizon (2x now) pre-ATP-R and post ATP-R mins with rejection emails both times. I don't have a boat load of hours, but I meet the requirements and I assume my resumé is descent. I'm a former AF officer (Aircraft MX Officer) a CFI/MEI-I teaching at a college level program (both as a CFI and Professor) have the Bachelors/Masters checkbox filled, graduated from a 4 year aviation program, etc. .......
Question: is there something I'm not doing right? I would LOVE to head up to the PNW to fly again and I really want to work for a quality company. Any pointers would be extremely appreciated. Feel free to PM me if you much rater do this behind the scenes.
Best to all!
