Default Horizon Cargo?

I was flying out of Seattle last week and saw a Horizon Q400 parked next to Fedex in the Cargo area of Seatac (North of N gates). Anyone know if Horizon is doing some cargo ops or is there MX on the north side of Seattle?

Thanks!

Wonder if this is a trend for smaller air carriers.

We have a maintenance stand near the Alaska Cargo ops.

Been seeing some of our airplanes parked near the Fedex planes too. Thinking maybe its storage. We now have access to some pads for de-icing in that area and I'm guessing they are using the space for airplane storage during non de-ice times.

But, this is all guessing on my part. Alaska Error Group is risk-adverse to an extreme right now. So I doubt they would be starting Horizon cargo ops unless there was revenue guarantee associated.

Horizon will be hiring 500 pilots to staff its newly formed cargo operation under contract with FedEx. All furloughs being recalled and 2 year upgrade expected. Sigh, just kidding.

That is generally, where they place the spares, for the day. Funny but there were a ton of broken Q400's on friday and many cancelled flights.

It was probably broken itself, or not enough pilots to fly it!

Today i overheard a person that was talking with one of the VP's and someone asked the question about growth in the next 5 years for AS and QX. He said more AS growth and very little QX growth, due to the high costs at QX. Also, said the 3 RJ's are going to continue to be parked unlessthings change dramatically. But a year is a generation in aviation.

Costs can't be too high, QX is expected to post a profit for 2009.

Because we don't work for poverty wages our managers/executives are convinced we cost too much.
