Default FAA Flight Inspection Dispatcher

Two job announcements for what is referred to as 'Flight Inspection Operations Specialist'

Series 0301
FAA Opportunities Search Results

External (People outside of current Gov't service)
https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/336940000

Internal (People already in another form of Gov't work)
https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/336941000

This is only part of the job description, but it is essentailly working in the Flight Inspection Operations Center (FICO) as a scheduler/dispatcher.
Assists in evaluating flight inspection requirements to plan, schedule, and coordinate flight inspection of ground and satellite-based facilities and systems, and instrument flight procedures. Assists to ensure flight inspection requirements are adhered to within assigned area of responsibility. In cases where flight inspection requirements are exceeded, the incumbent assists to initiate appropriate NOTAM action.

Might be a good listing for people looking to get their foot in the door for Gov't service for further movement or for a job if someone has lost a medical.

All requirements are listed in the announcement, but one of the minimums that is pertinent to this forum include:
[*]Applicants must possess a current Dispatcher or Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) Certificate. (You must submit a copy of your certificate by fax to (405) 954-3003 before the closing date of the announcement. Failure to do so will eliminate you from consideration.)

I've got an ATP AMEL/ASEL, a BE-300 and CL-604 type and still can't find a job there. Very little turn over and with a few exceptions, everyone seems to like it there. Please, somebody retire!

With your qualifications it seems that you would be referring to the Airspace Systems Inspection Pilot (ASIP) job rather than the job posting in this thread for Operations Specialist (Flight Dispatcher) jobs.

In any case - the organization is still under a hiring freeze, and when lifted it will be a 1-2 or 1-3 replacement ratio depending on the job.

Am I the only one who finds it ironic that the government entity responsible for issuing pilot certificates requires that you fax them a copy of your pilot certificate to apply for the job?

If you've been issued a temporary certificate there is no record of that in OKC until the paperwork shows up, and it might even get rejected and sent back to the FSDO if there was an error, so it's probably best to send in a photocopy of a temp if that's what you have.

Ironic yes , but I'm sure you understand the stovepipe nature of HR. We were told a recent story of an applicant who ONLY marked ATP on an application which in the verbiage said commercial/multi-engine.

Satpak - THIS THREAD is not for a flying job, but a DISPATCHER job.

Pilotmech - if interested, use the search function and the key word ASIP and you'll find a very detailed thread on the flying job.

BUMP

Hiring again for the Flight Inspection Operations Specialist job

Departmentepartment Of Transportation

Agency:Federal Aviation Administration

Job Announcement Number:AAC-EXT-14-AJW3343-34355
https://faai.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/363809300

Of note:
1) As a part of the Federal-Wide Hiring Reform Initiative (streamlining the hiring process), the FAA is committed to eliminating the use of the Knowledge, Skills and Ability (KSA) narratives from the initial application in the hiring process for all announcements. Therefore, as an applicant for this announcement, you are NOT required to provide a narrative response in the text box listed below each KSA.
It would be a good move to get rid of those pesky KSAs!
You still have to describe your experience in past jobs which reflect that you have the skills required for the job/position - so read the announcement completely (pay attention to the details as always!)

All of the previous posts still apply as far as the details of the job.
This is an internal announcement if anyone is interested.
