I think northward of 6000TT is good for Spirit. Some really good dudes have been hired without TPIC.

My stats aren't competitive to give you an idea, but I'm still trying:

3700TT
2200TPIC
Military IP/EP
Chief Pilot
Four year degree
2 internal recs
2 job fairs (going to my third on the 18th)

I say put your app in, go to the job fair and be personable.
Good luck! Looks like a fantastic time to get in at Spirit.

I interviewed last week and was offered the position.

5000 TT
3000 TPIC
Check Airman/Company Instructor
Aviation Management (Assistant CP)
121 and 135 PIC experience
Bachelors Degree
3 Internal Recs
No Job Fair

Interview was a great experience. Had my stuff in for over 2 years before I got the call for the interview. A buddy of mine walked my stuff in and I was invited to interview a few weeks later. Internal Recs or attending a job fair seem to be almost necessary to get an interview. I've also heard that they won't look at you until you have 4000 TT.

Spirit is a great company with a very promising future ahead of it. Best of luck to all those applying!

FWIW, I'm at:
Total Time 5305
Multiengine jet 5305
PIC 3305
Military IP/EP 2346
Actual Instrument 744
Night 594

No internal reccs or job fairs... just started this whole process about a month ago when I decided to retire from the USAF due to a pending assignment my family and I decided we could not take. Been fast and furious trying to get my stuff done with a 1 Sep 13 retirement date looming.

I am very concerned about being out there trying to find any flying job to keep recency of experience while I work to get hired at a larger company...

There are quite a few us in the same situation here on the blogs...some recently retired and others coming in the next 6-12 months. Lots of good advice to be found and shared. I stopped by the reserve squadron today and learned a wealth of info from some prior C-141 buds and met some new ones to network with. Get connected--it can make a big difference. By chance I found a pilot who has a friend flying for Spirit...next thing I am on the phone asking them questions about the company and learning about trips out of ACY.

I appreciate the advice. I know a few guys here and there at companies that are not hiring, trouble is, don't know if I know anyone at spirit. Any way to get a list of employees?

I once considered applying for a hotel van driver job. Seems like a great opportunity to make some airline connections.

"I drive this van, but I'm an aspiring Airline Pilot from the Midwest, just looking for my big break".
