I'm kicking myself in the rear. Just applied for Spirit but no internal recommendations. Didn't realize the QOL at Spirit until I started doing a little research. Wish I had stopped by & talked to them at WAI. Does anyone know the line up for job fairs Spirit will be attending?
That being said, you're on the right track. You may not get a look in without a LOR or two without attending a job fair. I attended two, still haven't been called, but I haven't lost hope.
The next job fair Spirit will be at is the Aero Crew Solutions fair in Chicago. If you're really interested in Spirit, I'd highly recommend going.

I would suggest making your way to a job fair or two. Internal recs may be a little tough to come by, but you can really boost your chances of getting called by going to a job fair. The next one is in Chicago, May 18. The recruiters are all great guys, as a military guy, I learned quite a bit by going.
Good luck, and fly your keister off!

I'm on call the weekend of May 18th...I will be asking one of the other captains to switch call weekends to attend Chicago job fair. QOL & job satisfaction is what I'm looking at when applying to the airlines. I'm fortunate to have a pretty good job but ready to move up.

Good deal. Another post said 7/8 of the guys in the latest class attended the January LAS job fair for Spirit.

Flew a local last night--AR and NVG assaults. Also did quarterly sims on Tues/Wed with a AF reserve senior UPS pilot. I asked lots of questions.

Fellow squadron member's wife works for them so trying to do more networking and learning about their business. Will start tracking on job fairs.

Job fairs are vital, I'll be at the Chicago one in May to talk to Spirit.
I was on a flight from Bagram to Bastian last year, I was the "over the shoulder" IP for a crew on their first flight in Afghanistan. A full bird Col, got on, we were a full load and the seat he was sitting in on our -130 had to be cleared for a box of blood (we were crammed full), so I invited the Colonel to sit up front. I stayed in the back to help the loads with some baggage that needed to be strapped down on the tailgate. When the Colonel moved up font, he talked to the AC and copilot, told them he was a Guardsman and gave them a business card. The last two cards he had left. Turns out he was an UPS Captain, and I missed out on getting his business card. Nice guy, but bummer I didn't get his name/number. Oh well, my loss.

Not sure how many this year, but I've seen some say they'd like to triple their pilot ranks over the next couple of years. Spirit is doing well and making tons of money. They're going to continue to hire for the foreseeable future.
