US Airways Application Window Open
#221
It seems they may still have problems with this on-line application system. I wanted to only update resume/letter or rec and couldn't, so I had to reapply and I am sure I did the whole thing - but I received the you're 1/2 done email immediately afterward. I checked and got that the first time, too. That application seemed to not be dumped after 48 hours.

I interviewed with US Airways in phoenix last week... I do believe they are looking for formal training within the last 5 years, and 400 hours w/n 12 months....

Coincidentally, I also heard they were surprised by the few number of military pilots they had recently hired. The pilot I spoke to at WAI said the application filter was going to change to 1500 hours as the "magic number" for military pilots.
Strike, good on you for two interviews. Good luck!

400 is a little tough, for most military guys (not former military who've gone to the regionals) retiring, 400 is nearly unattainable. I was the Chief Pilot in the squadron, instructing and evaluating constantly due to a lack of IPs and EPs, and I only managed 380 hours that can be used. Simulator hours are worthless, and a lot of check rides are now done in the sim.
I also talked with a very nice Captain at WAI, she explained the "bucket" system, but as long as you meet the mins, it becomes a lottery on who gets their application pulled to review by the recruiters/HR. if what she told me is true, they have NO influence over what applications are pulled and presented to them.
I'll use myself as an example and what she told me when I had her review my résumé: "You've got everything Airways is looking for, hours, four year degree, ATP, recency of training, leadership and volunteerism. You should be called in for an interview, but the third-party vendor doesn't pull applications like that". Now, it could've been her just blowin' smoke, I've heard the same thing over and over from other recruiters, but even she seemed very frustrated with the application system.
I was surprised that after she explained what Airways has to offer, she offered to look and critique people's resumes and I was the only one to take her up on it.
Good luck to everyone who gets the call, Airways looks like a great place to go.

Friend of mine interviewed yesterday.
About 10,000 total with years of 121 captain experience.
No formal training in the last 5 years except annual recurrent.
Did not have 400 hours in the last 12 months.
He was not a check airman or instructor.

There was a couple of guys in my Emerald Coast Seminar class who had upcoming Airways interviews. All great and impressive guys, they should do quite well.

So does the fact that there is no more pilot position listed under the Flight Operation page on the US Airways employment site mean that they are done taking apps or are have they acquired enough to fill the seats they have open.
Curious if anyone knows or has some insight?
