Howdy all... Can one of you enlighten me on how the jumpseat works over there for online jumpers? Specifically, can you reserve it ahead of time, seniority, etc? Also commuting clause, if any?... Would normally ask on another forum but I'm a newbie here so posting is limited to this and a few others.... Thanks!

Jumpseat can be reserved by our pilots 7 days in advance, first-come first-served, via a dedicated telephone number.

No commuter clause per se (at least on the East contract). Chief pilots preach responsible commuting. I had one stuck commute before I got based at home, and the CP was fine with it. He told me that as long as guys are responsible about commuting (leave a backup, etc.) they have no issue with an occasional problem. If you keep it at or below two stuck commutes in a rolling 12-month period you'll probably never hear a word from the chiefs.

Hey VenetianFryCook,

Does the West contract have a commuter clause in it?

By-the-way, I am "keeping warm" along with many of the rest of you. Sure wish I knew what that meant. Does that mean we're on the back burner, bench-warmers, the "we'd really like to have that guy over there, but if he says NO, you'll do" guy????

Just a guess, but I think it means that you've passed the initial computer screen but there's no interview spot for you at the moment.

Right now, the May bid has no vacancies and, it looks like the vacancies from the March bid are almost completely filled. So nowhere for newhires to go at the moment.

Likely to change at a moments notice, of course!

Anyone get another invite to apply again today? If thes no positions, and plenty of applicants from last bid, why is there a new posting?

Under "Additional Job Information and Job Actions" it now says "Application Invitation - 02/15/2013"

Anyone know what this means?

Mine says same thing. All that means is you were rejected on previous application and they sent you out another invitation to apply today.

I just don't see why they are posting another round if there are still people that are waiting for interviews from the last round.

My application still shows "under review".
