I believe internal rec only comes into play at the interview and not for the initial selection.

Yea, from what I know, it's all a point system now. Pure computer pulling numbers. Only when you get scheduled for an interview does your campaign of contacts and references kick in. But to get the call, it's all about the points. College, Type, Time, plus...

So, I applied on the 6th, got the emails from the website with further instructions and then updated pilot credentials. I checked the SWA.careers.com today and saw my app on the 6th was closed and there was a new first officer opening # requisition dated from the 8th. Do I re-apply? Anyone else see this?

What do you mean by that? Has this happened before? If they went in a changed something minor to the application questionnaire would it generate a new post date?

Thanks.

He means that the last time the window opened the same thing happened. Multiple position numbers appeared. It was almost a daily occurrence. There is no need to apply again.

If the past is any indication, they only allow a certain number of applicants per posting. When that is full, they open up a new posting. As stated above, you only need to apply to one. You should get an e-mail from the People Department directing you toward the next step within a day or so.

Understand the ship manning numbers. Yes, my argument was with the latter half of the statement. These hires are headed to SWA on the 737. They will not/cannot be assigned to the Air Tran Subsidiary (from a junior flights ops manager). I see that you are a 717 F/O. After these initially contentious moments pass, I think you'll find that SWA has an exceedingly high quality of life and employment for all. Good luck and keep the ship upright through the storm. Calm seas will come for all of us.

First disclaimer: I am a pilot. NO ONE should take financial advice from a pilot.

Second disclaimer: I do not buy individual stocks.

2-3 years ago the stock floated around 6-6 1/2 dollars, when the economy was really dire. Within the last year it was up to 12. Now its about 7ish.
I suspect high fuel prices are pushing all airline stocks, some more than others. The economy is not in a stellar condition. SWA announced the aquisition of Airtran 9/2010. Something that major probably has a downward pressure until everything is settled.

Take this as from a pilot, see Disclaimer the First.
