From an email a SW friend sent me. Bold emphasis added by me.

Pilot Position Open to Qualified Candidates Beginning October 6

We are preparing to resume Pilot interviews. We anticipate hiring an additional 140 Pilots with interviews beginning in November! These Pilots will be trained during the first quarter of next year to position us for the anticipated adjustment to future schedules.

Candidates who meet our minimum qualification requirements should visit Southwest Airlines Careers to apply. After applying, qualified applicants will be sent a link to a secure third party website, and asked to fill out a candidate profile that details their career and flying history. Candidates who have already created a profile will receive an e-mail with specific instructions on how to become an applicant for this hiring cycle. We will invite candidates to interview based on competitive experience. Consideration will be given to total time, PIC time, aircraft flown, type ratings held, currency, overall aviation experience, career progression, positions held, and education. The B737 type rating will be required for employment, but will not be required to interview. Candidates who have interviewed in the last 12 months will not be considered during this hiring window.

The application window will open October 6 and close on October 12. We encourage you to tell your friends and colleagues to apply if they meet our qualifications and are interested in a career at Southwest Airlines. Please note that we are allowing ample time for Pilot candidates to apply so there is no need to rush. Furthermore, all qualified applicants will be considered so there is also no need to be first.

Open. Had to go to SW website careers. Hope you kept user name and password. Took me to previous application site. Had to load resume in txt format. Had previous resume still on file. Loads and you have to fill in a few blanks. Pilotcredentials.com was down yesterday but up today with more questions added.

A sample...

13. Do you like the A's?
16. Would you be willing to screw an Airtran guy?
19. What does 737-20 equal?
22. Do you like Gladiator movies?

Note: They ask for last 24 months flight time not last 12 as on sister Fedex site.

Good luck.

For those wondering, the 737 app question reads:
"If selected for this position, you are required to have a B737 Type rating. Will you have a B737 Type rating at time of Employment?"

"Candidates who have already created a profile will receive an e-mail with specific instructions on how to become an applicant for this hiring cycle."

Anyone have a clue how that'll happen or has anyone with a profile from last window received the "e-mail"

Something like this:

Southwest Airlines will be opening our pilot hiring window October 5th through October 12th. To express interest in Southwest Pilot positions, please go to www.southwest.com/careers. Once there, click “View All Job postings” and express interest in the open pilot requisition by uploading your resume and answering the prescreening questions.

Having a profile on Pilot Credentials will NOT make you a Pilot candidate for consideration; you must also take the steps above to express interest through www.southwest.com/careers. If you previously applied through southwest.com during our last hiring event, it is still necessary to complete this step for this hiring event. After completing the steps above on www.southwest.com/careers, please also review and update your existing profile at https://swa.pilotcredentials.com/ . Some areas on that website have changed and it is important that your profile information is current, complete and accurate.

Interviews will be granted on a qualifications review and competitive qualifications basis and will be for potential 2012 training class dates.

Sincerely,

Southwest Airlines

I feel strongly that this statement is inaccurate. However, I'll pose the question to those who know on campus. If I were applying, I'd expect to be at Southwest Airlines on the 737.

AT is a bit leaner IIRC. In the ballpark of 14 pilots per for SWA vice 12 per jet for AT. The 717 comment should've been in sarcasm font.
