^^What

1. I bet your at somewhere like Eagle and its easy to make comments like that.

2. You assume way too much, esp. about the industry, its so fluid how can you guess these things, they could get picked up tomorrow with a major airline for a feeder.

3. Lets just SAY you upgraded to Capt in 14 months. That ups your pay to 30,000ish a year, at that point you would be feeling a bit better than the eagle FO making 22k and no upgrade in sight.

Tell me what major is hiring off the streets? What major doesn't have people on the streets? What major does any feeder routes anymore, they are outsourcing everything because of people like you... There is a surplus of pilots with Turbine PIC. If we keep taking the low paying job they (airlines) will continue to make more low paying jobs... The big paying jobs are less now than they were 5 years ago, and they will continue to shrink if they guy behind you keep saying I will just put my time so I can get a job at the Majors. They are cutting the jobs that we want and crating more of the ones that don't benefit pilots. What assumptions am I making, open your eyes, do the Math!!! Yea you could hit the jackpot, put the chances are against you. " its so fluid how can you guess these things" Lets face it, the airlines are not going to merge and outsource to lower cost carriers so they can turn back around and... Majors are shrinking, the economy is not helping, but most importantly we are not helping ourselves with this attitude...

I am not sure if this point has been mentioned on here. Once the new crew rest rules pass, Great Lakes will be outstation basing the pilot group. If you think commuting to Lakes sucks now, it will get MUCH worse trying to two leg commute it to Liberal Kansas. Have you been to Liberal Kansas? or Glendive Montana? Miserable places to be based.

I'll bet that those pilots who do get based at an outstation like that will get moved around often too - whether by openings and closings of those outstations or by choice of trying to find a better QOL. They may move as many times as I did in my early military years (9 times in 4 years )
OUCH!
At least everything I owned basically fit into the back of my Chevy Beretta at the time

Right know at Lakes a new hire could hold Denver out of training or shortly after. They are hurting for pilots, they had some Captains move on and FO leave before the upgrade for better QOL. Did I hear Pilot strike for a new contract?

Denver would probablyt be a pretty nice base - if you can afford to live there on the low starting pay.

well Denver would be great for me because i live in OKC, OKC-DEN has at least 7 flights a day, plus i have family in boulder i could use for a crash pad. So i could continue living in cheap oklahoma.

theres a very very very high chance I may turn this job down if offered, I think I would just be getting myself in WAY over my head economically, I think I might just keep building some ME time and keep hoping for Eagle. I am now at 1100 ttl, 75me.

I wish my 1000ttl 55me could get me a bite from somewhere else.

Taking a huge pay cut like you say above and increasing your times so quickly does sound like you ought to stay with your current C-182 job flying jumpers, plus I remember you saying how much you were enjoying it. If things keep going the way they seem to be going now you'll have very competitive times very quickly for the regional that you really want.

Well, yes we are in negotiations for a contract that have gone nowhere. Also, rumor is outstation basing if/when the new rest rules come into effect. I personally feel like it is a scare tactic by mgmt. Those geniouses have to know that pilots will quit, and we are already short staffed. Furthermore, who would want to apply here when hiring starts again when anyone can go anywhere else and be based in a real city!
