American Eagle to hire
#771
Speaking for myself (one of the "over-qualified" guys), I never had, nor will have, the intention to bolt from a regional for the sole reason to fly big iron. If I make a liveable wage with good schedules I'm happy.
But I have left regionals that have settled for what I thought were bad contracts, or that have broke promises.
Maybe I'm not typical, but that's how I am.
Plus, like the guy above me said, just where would you expect these "over-qualified" guys to go? No major airlines are hiring. Probably will be almost none for 3 years or more. When they do, the odds will be long. I certainly think the regionals can get their mileage out of of the "over-qualified" so long as they don't abuse them too bad.

Where did you get this information? Can you post a link to an official document stating this? or is this just another rumor?

It's not a rumor. There will be an MEC meeting this Saturday to determine the "hardship" criteria. Thanks for giving the junior guys the shaft once again EGL ALPA.

I find it all pretty unbelieveable, and I'm probably killing my chances at a job here, but seriously, why hire CFI's with 1400 hours and 150 multi all in piston over the guys with 121 experience, type ratings, etc???
I have over 2000TT, 1200 Multi, 1100 Turbine, 121 exp, last 12 months with a flying job, and an EMB-145 SIC Type, full currency and an internal recommendation. Haven't heard squat while the less qualified are getting calls. Any theories?
An ex 121 guy with lots of experience is far more likely to succeed in training and is a better pilot once out on the line, due to EXPERIENCE! This has ALWAYS been a proven fact, and this is why you have to have MORE flight time to fly for a major. The cream of the crop should get picked first, right?! Not so with Eagle HR evidently, and it confuses me.

If you are sitting in HR and have read each and every single resume of each and every applicant that has been hired thus far, then and only then can you pass judgment. To sit on a forum and complain because you have higher time then most being hired and can't understand why you haven't been called is useless. ATTITUDE has a lot to do with the hiring process, I never understood why my former chief pilot said he doesn’t hire former 121 but I'm beginning to understand!

at the end of the day if you're given the job then take it for what it is and go to work. it's better to be the guy in class that people enjoy being around rather than the guy trying to separate the class into groups based on background. once you're there in training and on the job you're there and nothing else matters other than doing the job safely and taking care of those around you that matter.
and remember those guys in '07 and '08 may have been hired with less time and experience however they have been on eagle property a lot longer and when you're sitting there on the first day of IOE trying to figure out how to bring you're schedule up on the computer i guarantee one of them will be the first one to come over and help.
