I really doubt doing IPC will get you a call. From what I've heard, they are starting to interview furloughed pilots now as well that haven't touched a plane in several months. It's all about internal recommendations and maybe some luck in getting a call.
FTD (Flight Training Device) and Simulator a two different things. Most logbooks have only one column entitled "Simulator", but you still log FTD/Sim time in that column. FTD time is pretty much worthless, it doesn't add to your Total time or anything else. The only time I log Sim/FTD time is for training (e.g. instrument rating) or currency.

I was always told that Level D time did not count towards your total time. I've never included it in my totals before. But, I have heard some say that it could be counted, and is legit.... but I never wanted to do that. I wasn't sure.

You can count a certain amount towards meeting the requirements for an ATP certificate.

however...
REALISTICALLY SPEAKING: the reason we have a logbook is for a job interview. But at a job interview if they see sim time being applied towards total time they will not allow it and they will likely laugh at you...and they may show you the door.
Pilot group would highly encourage you to leave Sim time out of your logbook.
