hey, for those of you that are NOT furloughed, from the original pool and have an interview soon, when did you submit your application on airline apps?

It is a crappy situation. Flight schools won't hire furloughed airline guys, because they know you will bail as soon as something better comes along. Most 135 companies won't hire 121 guys, because you've been SIC in a glass plane and haven't flown single-pilot IFR in a while or at all. You can't compete for the corporate/charter jobs, because for one, there are very few and you got no chance when you go up against a furloughed NetJets or Flexjet guy. So, the only chance right now to get back into flying would be 121, either by recall or going to another regional, but this "12 month job requirement" just eliminated or reduced your chances of that. So, what are we suppose to do?
Yep. That is the situation I am in. I had a commuter call me with a phone interview this past week. I flew there previously for 5 years,as Captain.
They ended up calling me back and said, update them in 6 months with more current times. I did a BFR and an IPC before the interview. I won't get more current than that. I am screwed.

So, let me see if I've got this right. Eagle's only hiring those who already have jobs? Is that really the case?

No disparagement to those who are current 135 or CFI's getting these slots, as I'm truly happy for anyone getting a flying job in this economy. Congrats!!

BUT...where's Eagle ALPA and National on this? Fellow qualified airline pilot dues paying ALPA brethren are getting passed over specifically BECAUSE they're furloughed ALPA pilots? Where's the "Strength In Unity"? I truly hope this isn't the case.

I remember when everyone was saying that KLGA would close because they were going to knock down the terminal and rebuild it so in the mean time everyone would be BOS based. People really believed it. They said you wait and see it's going to be announced soon.

First I thought they were only interviewing those current within the last 12 months...then I heard 6 months...and now it seems the rumor is "current flying job". It's definitely frustrating. I can only imagine how the guys who have been f'd for a long time feel...here's to hoping us furloughed guys start getting called next week. I'd really like to work for Eagle and get my ass where it belongs (up in the air!)

need to have at least one space shuttle landing - preferably in the last 2 wks and of course the usual 747 type.

Do you mind sharing some of what the answer was?. I'm not a jetnet member, but interested in the answer.

No, jetnet is AMR's employee website so if you are "not a member" then you have no need for the info.
